That’s exactly the reason I want to play Randle at the 5.

Ok well when bobby and randle are on the court together you can pretend that randle is at the 5. Problem solved

Or we can pretend Portis is a C as he rides the bench

Jalen one of the few analysts (with Brian Windhorst) who's giving us some respect. I'll remember that when the Knicks get good again.

“On top of his $18 million salary, Randle also has $900,000 available for three benchmarks: either all-defense team, an All-Star selection and making the playoffs (if Randle appears in at least 65 games). Although all three are unlikely, keep an eye on Randle posting All-Star type numbers this season for a New York team that is rebuilding.”

I wonder if Randle's recent history with Payton in NOLA will give Payton a slight inside track on the job. For example, if DSJ and Frank underwhelm during training camp and preseason? It's an easy way out for Fixdale in the name of bringing some continuity to a brand new starting lineup?

Payton will still get burn. He adds a dimension only RJ can match.

I'm just hoping Fiz wants as much ball movement as there is in these two clips Pelican-Randle highlights and isn't just completely enamored with the sets the Pelicans run where it's 4 clear out for Randle to operate from the top of the key to the basket.

Don't get me wrong. I think they'll run that as the Pelicans did. It makes sense to play to Randle's strengths - quickness against most C's and a lot of PF's.

I just hope the Knicks can show the same level of ball movement as the Pels. It can't all be the players. I realize these are highlights though.

Jax would have loved Randle with his triangle fetish....

I remember seeing post-allstar break numbers for that tandem and thinking that Payton probably got brought in to start. I prefer DSJ and Frank both, but Payton closed last year really strong...talking triple-doubles while Randle was dropping big numbers strong. They weren't winning though, so I'm still skeptical.

Is this where we put the expected stats?

34 MPG
23.5 PPG 12.5 RPG 3.8 APG 1.0 SPG 1.0 BPG
55% FG 38% 3PT 78% FT

Still high on the signing despite some fit issues with Mitch. Still think him and Mitch will be at their best when the other is off the floor.

He’s awesome facing the basket.

He can do something we haven’t had a in a while - big who can grab the rebound and bring it up.

Will find the open.

Good roll guy.

Great footwork.

Should be our quasi backup C if we go small.

He’s getting paid the same rate as Barnes who’s not nearly as good, but on a 2 year deal with a team option on year 3.

I hope he plays a lot with the kids b/c he could actually stick for the long term. I also hope we have some lineups where it’s him and 4 shooters so he can put in work.

This and this alone was a solid plan B move.

Him and Mitch complement each other real well on defense. Offensively is a different story but hopefully Randle can get up to 36-37%. Randle should help as a short roll option getting open looks for our other guys. Knicks havent had a good passer in the post for a long time. Randle will definitely help in that department.

Took a year longer than expected but happy to have been on the mark with this
