I don't even think he's terrible. The stats kind of indicate he is, but it has to be taken in the context of a young player. Of course he got too many minutes, but maybe the Knicks felt that would fast track his development; I don't know. He wound up at 28 mpg average. I guess it could have been 20 mpg, but I'm not going to argue about 8 mpg when the alternative was more Dotson or Mario.

Point is, he may not do anything in a standout way, other than the floater, which, stats aside, I think is a big deal, but going on form and 3 point shooting percentage, and a mix of "decent" all around offensive skills, I think he's a project who will pan out to be good offensively.

This is going to be an ongoing thing, with players coming it at 18, 19 years old. That they are projects. I mean, Frank has defenders, and he's pretty awful offensively as well, and yet they retain optimism over things like "aggression" or "form".

Knox is way ahead of first year Frank, offensively, other than Frank is a better passer, which is to be expected based on position. Obviously, Frank is worlds ahead of Knox defensively. Both guys have major question marks.

Get ready for RJ to have some question marks too.

It’s not age, Mitch was the same age and didn’t play any kind of ball higher than high school. And yet he was amazing

All he does is dunk, he has yet to take at least one jump shot. You expect Knox to be able to do much more.

dunk, block, set screens, play d, rebounds he does a lot really well. All I really want from knox is to hit his open 3's and not get torched too bad by his man on d.

Mitch is almost a year and a half older than Knox.

I actually expect Knox to be much much better this season. Strength was a huge problem for him last season and hindered him with being able to keep his balance when shooting and his lack of explosiveness (why he got better as the season went along)...and he looks a lot stronger now. And honestly, not only does he look bigger than he did last season but he actually looks taller to me. There was a lot of talk that Knox was still growing and could end up somewhere in the 6'10"-6'11" range so I would not be surprised if he's already on the higher side of 6'10". If so, then that's pretty damn good for a SF. Knox can shoot. He's shown that. His shooting was inconsistent but IMO a lot of that had to do with some mix of deer-in-the-headlights and his lack of strength. He's clearly stronger and the expectation (hope) is that the newness of the game is a lot less. I'm honestly more excited about watching how Knox does than anyone else and that he's the one that is set to explode the most among the Knicks young players.

I expect a lot more regular displays of what he showed in December when he won Rookie of the Month. Imagine what a taller, stronger, more experience and explosive Knox can do? A lot of the layups in the highlight vid would be powerful dunks IMO.

Based on potential:

1) RJ Barrett
2) Knox
3) Mitch
4) DSJ
5) Trier
6) Iggy
7) Frank

My ranking based on POTENTIAL:
1) Mitch - (#1 because of last season. Offense this season? I see a similar player from last season, which is still a good thing)
2) DSJ - (Improved Shooting, especially FT & 3 point shooting could take his game to the next level)
3) RJ Barrett - (Too early to tell, but good shooting will help him live up to expectations)
4) Iggy - (Will not get much playing time, but has the talented and potential to be top 3 on this list)
5) Trier - (Could end up being the best shooting guard on the Knicks. Defense?)
6) Knox - (I'm expecting better shooting. Will play hard for a new contract. Defense?)
7) Frank - (Expecting better shooting. Will play hard like Knox this upcoming season, but it won't be enough. Future: Europe or NBA backup)

My current potential list is base on gut feeling and what I've seen so far.
After preseason and even before the regular season, my updated list will be more accurate base on the eye test.

Edit: I just saw a DSJ free throw shooting video, so I'm just going to move him down the ranking a notch.  :nonono: Preseason.

Knox has the best offensive potential of all out kids. In the strictly getting buckets department. Just gotta hope he develops right skill wise and IQ wise.
