I think it's great.
"Thibs called back and wanted more picks," said Jorge Sedano. "And Pat Riley, literally, I was told, called him a mother-bleeper and hung up the phone."

If you ask a doctor, those tall specimens "accurate height" can fluctuate an inch or more between morning and night.
So they better define a protocol for measuring it.

It is great that more 'accurate' heights are going to be recorded.

Fewer kids are likely to be discouraged by the fact that their idols are way too tall for them to imitate, will give at least a few kids the confidence about their height and potential to make the NBA (height wise at least).

Excellent work by Silver fixing something that is completely irrelevant to most people.

I mean... What they had in place was pretty damn stupid, even if everyone got used to it, and it's an extremely easily fixed thing. Feels like a pretty sensible decision to me.

I only read the thread title and as a European I want to congratulate America for moving to the metric system. Better late than never, lads.

They should include wingspan in player billings also.
Also, something that might surprise people. I think when it comes to athleticism, agility, physical attributes and skill I rate LeBron only in the top 50.

They should be taking accurate weights at the same time, those numbers are even more inaccurate than height. At least they can now grabbing accurate heights from the college combines and camps.

What about standing reach

In related news, the NBA announced their new online dating site: meetnbaplayers.com. In addition to certifying the accuracy of height and age claims, they will also verify the validity of the all proclamations made within the profile. We will finally get to know if Kyrie is down to earth, if KD is really living life to the fullest and if Kawhi does, indeed, love to laugh.

There's been quite a few draft picks where the highlight has been team officials discussing how much they grew over a summer more so than anything they did on the court *cough* Magic *cough* Randolph *cough*

If knowing exactly how tall an existing NBA player is, changes how you see him or evaluate him, if it's an inch or two different.... that's pretty weird. It's easily fixed but it's incredibly inconsequential. Especially given the other issues facing the NBA that they aren't dealing with. And no, I don't want to talk about them here.

Real heights + no shoes measurements. NBA is officially catching up with rest of the world or Europe at least.

Im curious if teams are actually going to take this seriously. Is the NBA going to send someone to each team to watch this be done? If not I can easily just see teams writing down the previously listed heights.

It sounds like they'd probably be fined. That's basically what they do now, just write down anything.

Thank god. No more having to listen to every fan base insisting that their draft pick from a few years ago has grown 2-3 inches since being drafted.
