I'm confused

I've only been scanning the posts in this thread, but are Lakers fans really saying he's not good? All I have seen is that it sucks that he's out because LA needs him.

That may be a blessing in disguise for the Lakers. Kuzma is a chucker. If he somehow start in the lineup with LeBron and AD, he’s definitely going to disrupt the flow of the offense with his constant early shot selection and refusal to make a simple pass when another player has a better quality look to hit the shot.
Thanks for all the great memories, LeBron! The show must go on! #Heatnation

Kuzma is insanely overrated. But the Lakers are so thin on talent that they'll miss him.

Do we even know how long he is out yet? He could return by November or earlier - no big deal.

Will be interesting to see at what point the Lakers tank and trade both LBJ and AD for pieces/picks

Kobe will trade LeBron at some point, wouldn't shock me at all.

Im actually pretty surprised at how many people were thinking Kuzma is some difference maker. They'll be fine without him. They won't miss his 30% 3 point shooting. Even Avery Bradley shoots better and he was awful last year.

Filling up a stat sheet =/= being a productive player.

The teams like the Clippers, Lakers and Sixers to me were going to be interesting to watch during the regular season to see how they managed their star players (specifically LBJ, Kawhi, and Embiid). Those teams have Championship aspirations and need to be healthy to achieve them. LAL and PHI lack the depth to withstand injuries and still be a #1 seed while keeping their star fresh for the playoffs. Should be interesting to see how they approach the season.

What year?
Don't remember when Melo played in the PO.

Edit:
just looked
2012-13 with the Knicks?
Or that poor run 2 years ago in OKC. Those are his last two POs.

I’m talking about the guy who let Ben Simmons look like Lebron against you guys. The only thing Dudley is good at is yapping his mouth like a clown.

1 5 game series undoes his regular season contributions?

And my mistake for thinking you were talking about Melo in the PO. He's only been in PO once since 2012/13 and it was an embarrassing performance.

For clarification of points made in both of those posts above, Kuzma is both our 3rd best player and he's not good at the same time. It's both. :P Hope that helps. Lakers keep players out for longer than it takes for their injuries to actually heal imo. Their return timelines in the past 10 years especially stretch credulity. I remember how quick even 24 yr old superstar Shaq and others like Van Exel who was bone on bone in his knee came back from worse injuries and conditions only 20 years ago. I refuse to believe that this logically sounds like a 4-6 week thing, mid Nov at worst. Ankle sprain cases are dealt with excruciatingly slowly, this is a stress reaction in the foot. Not good. Hope they caught it early.

I think it's less that Kuzmas all that good and more than the Lakers don't have that many caliber NBA players. They're not going to grind AD and LeBron for 40 in the regular season.

Yep, Kuzma isn't a great player but he's significantly better than whoever else they can find in the G-League or a retirement home to replace him.

He’d be a nice scoring option for them for sure with Kuzma out.

Players who make shots are always nice scoring options, but not those with a TS% hovering around 50.0.

TS% FTW. lol.

If Melo's career started 10 years earlier, he'd be revered like Iverson, but instead analytic geeks in NBA front offices have brought him to his knees. He probably wakes up everyday screaming like this....

You’re laughing at TS% as the most commonly used statistic when it comes to efficiency or making shots?

Please my friend, please come join the rest of us in 2019. And while you’re at it, look at Anthony’s TS% over the past 5 seasons and please notice the clear trend that has taken place.

Yeah, but Iverson doesn't deserve the credit he gets. He had one flukey Finals run that almost ended in the 2nd round and an MVP he didn't deserve. He's an all time great, but the respect he gets is out of proportion with what he achieved.
