Exactly, but to me it's more stunning what he managed to do in his career if he would tell his real height. A lot more respect after officially seeing how short he really is, it can be seen on the court but official wording always makes the difference.

Players I have interested in are Durant and Howard. How much will they gain/lose.

Nah, we're too set in our ways to go metric. Wonder if they'll go to the nearest quarter inch though like they do at the combine. No matter what, it's better than what they had in place.

He is taller than that, that's his old height. He came to the NBA straight form high school.

Is it still going to be the team turning in these “official” numbers?

Anyone notice it’s always teams that aren’t doing a whole lot of contending that are busy promoting how all their young prospects are growing 4 inches over the summer?

LeBron is 6'8.25".

Plus he measured that coming straight from HS. I always considered LeBron to be more 6'9 (nice) anyways. But I guess we'll see once all these measurements become public record.

I do think more players should have weight clauses in their contract like diaw did, though.

As long as they took the weight at the same time every year, I think it would be an interesting point of reference over time, but this is all about gambling so I guess it doesn't matter.

Yea, it could be interesting. Many guys are going to lose some weight as the season goes on, it's actually expected, which I think some people don't understand about the off-season bulking up, that it's part of a training regimen and weight loss is expected, so the guys won't be like that for most of the season. I don't know what time would be the "ideal" time to do it though.

Yeah, I'm not expecting them to tell me how much they weigh every week, but some of them are still listed at the weight they had coming out of college. Just do an update every year at the beginning of the season or midseason. They already weigh them, just pass the info.

Love is listed at 251 and was considered at 255 when he was drafted, but he supposedly lost 30lbs in Cleveland. Just update the info, it shouldn't be that complicated.

Will the NBA finally use the metric system?

I'm more surprised they never had this earlier.

Nah, accurate weights may spell the end of the '15 pounds of muscle' threads.

I predict KP will be 7'1.5 and Boban a legit 7'3.

Dental check-up. Seriously though, "certify" is being used super loosely here, teams will simply have to submit those things and the league will take their word for it.
I seriously doubt teams are going to ask their players to get measured every summer but at least some might do it.

Teams do physicals and already have all the player's real barefoot heights. When's the last time you got a physical and your doctor didn't check your height?

Uzbekistan claims that Ilyasova is playing with a fake age, name, and identity. They say he's really 35 year old Uzbek Arsen, who left the country as a teen. The guy has no birth certificate. So how's the NBA gonna handle that?

I always found it interesting that ppl almost always reference charles barkely as 6'4 but jordan 6'6 when they are exactly the same height.

sixerswillrule wrote:For some reason, when people want to emphasize how short some players are, they will mention what their height would be without shoes (while most other players are known by their height in shoes), and maybe even subtract 1 inch on top of that. Iverson was 5'10", Barkley was 6'4", etc.

I'm way more excited about this than I should be. Kyle Lowry may go from 6'1 to just under 6 feet.
