Why do these threads always turn into dumb back and forths, kp has bulked up, yes, kp is injury prone yes, he's a crappy rebounder. Yes, these are things everyone with eyes know so why the dumb back and forths?

KP bulking up should help a great deal, especially since he now has a superstar who will be finding him wide-open looks + he won't be getting doubled as much now.

Dallas are going to be very underrated next season.

IDK why there are salty Knick fans in here knocking KP

The trade was an unmitigated disaster and typical trash we expect from this team

To even get to the point where we had to trade him (whether it was preplanned or result of errors) is the highest level of incompetence possible

The Knicks plan was to create 2 max slots so they could go after Julius Randle and Bobby Portis in the off season. Scott Perry "I love it when a plan comes together"

The real plan was fine. The execution didn't work out but the plan was fine. And when it didn't work out they pretty much did the right thing in going for a lot of short term deals to re-enter free agency in 2021 when it next matters. Now for that to work some of these under-performing young players need to show something like the Nets kids did either to be a supporting cast for the stars or to be a trade package for a star that can lure another one.

Easy to take shots at the Knicks considering their recent history, but I think the KP deal was the right move for them. They certainly got max value out of an injured guy needing a new max contract. I mean look at what Dallas paid just to have match rights as they got nothing out of him on his existing contract.

Nah. We good over here

Man walked into the GM's officer and said "trade me in a week or I'm going back to Europe". People act like we traded him out the blue...

Judge the quality of the trade because we got nothing good enough back (love DSJ but Barrett and Randle means we're not keeping him long term), but not the decision.

I think we’ll keep him. Hopefully lol

Kevin Love or Boozer had great rebounding numbers because they literally not even tried to block any shot at all. KP could pull a Kevin Love and end up with higher rebounding numbers. At offense he plays often a stretch-4, also hurting his offensive rebounding numbers.

So the "bad rebounder" is the result of the way he plays and not BECAUSE he is a bad rebounder.

This is silly since Embiid, Davis and Gobert are top notch shot blockers that can also rebound the ball.

KP is a terrible rebounder, he has a weak base and gets pushed off his spots, maybe he can improve but he has never shown the ability to rebound.

That's not true. He averaged 9.3 in his rookie season, PER36. Those are very far from terrible, they are above average numbers. He also had big rebounding games in his career. Let's not pretend he is Bargs. He is an average rebounder, not terrible. There is a big difference.

That was good for 71st in the league among people that played at least 500 minutes. He may be above average if we're like comparing him to Kemba Walker or something but certainly not for a starting big man.

I couldn't possibly care less what his PER 36 rebounding numbers were as a rookie, especially since he had 2 following seasons of 7.9 and 7.3 PER 36 rebounding. Why you would go back to his rookie year to try and support your point is just dishonest, he's closer to Bargnani as a rebounder than the other elite rim protectors who can rebound. Also, you have never even see him play in your teams jersey, at least wait until then before you try and tell me anything about his game.

Nah, I'm pissed. Asks to be traded in a season he never even played in, in which we were bound to land a top 5 pick. Had Fizz come all the way out to Latvia and treat him nice. I get the Phil situation sucked but new management, new coach, teammates that love eachother. Dude is a primadona. I was one of his biggest fans and admit I was hurt by his trade request.

Hes a good player though so I wont fake pretend he wasnt good or wish him not to be good. Sucks.

He wasnt the best rebounder but 7 boards per game is pretty decent considering where he plays on offense and who his C were. Maybe you guys could do the research but itd be interesting to see the correlation between rebounders and guys who are known to space the floor as KP does. In other words, Gobert rebounds so well for a shot blocker because he doesnt really leave the painted area on offense and isnt really a scoring threat outside of putbacks or well placed inside passes. Kps offensive responsibility took him outside of the normal high rebounding area and I think this added strength with give him more inside options going forward.

Second....Enes Kanter. The dude swallows up just about everything at the rim. It's literally the only reason he gets paid in this league. I've seen plays where KP wouldve had the ball easily just bounce to him and Kanter eagerly rebound hunts. And I'm not bashing Kanter for that but it's the nature of playing with him. You let him get paid as his teammate. You'll get paid on your other abilities. Could KP have been a bit more box score selfish? Sure but when you factor those two things it isnt as concerning as made out to be. Between he and Kanter the Knicks typically would match or outrebounded most NBA pairings. It was one of our few positive stats.

Looking forward to seeing KP healthy this year. Him and Luka will be fun to watch. Hopefully they maintain their health throughout the year.

Even if he is average, or below average in this regard, that is still very far from being terrible.

I have watched probably all of his career games, so I feel I can make an objective case for him. Even if he is a below average rebounder, that is still not terrible. Again, Bargnani was terrible. He played on your team as well. Btw, for a power forward, 7.1 was okay. Now he'll play as a full time center on defense, and will always be close to the rim. He is also stronger than he ever was, so let's wait what he can do. I understand if you are rooting him to fail though.

Because Knicks fans want him to fail badly, and when they share that opinion, you kind of have the urge to reply. It is what it is, the vast majority of their fans hate the kid now.

I'm a Knicks fan and for the record I don't persay hate KP.. I hate that his dopehead brother has so much influence over him and seems to give KP a false sense of entitlement which in turn lead to his dismissal (of course a long with the fact that he was coming off a major injury and due for an extension). I resent the way it ended here

His brother? if the richest and one of the most impactful organizations in the league cannot handle a guy who was a below-par basketball player himself and with little to no experience as an agent, that's on FO and the ownership. Since the trade to Dallas, his brother has been mute and invisible. Perhaps, Dallas is doing something right?

Ehh, I don’t hate KP. I’m hoping he can stay healthy. But no one has more power than the front office. We have a nice core up and coming, we had the cap space and Perry is actually great, he could’ve just kept his mouth shut and give it a shot. If DeMarcus Cousins lasted so long in Sacramento, KP should have no problem. Kind of felt betrayed that we finally got our franchise player and he jumped ship so quick. Anyways nothing can change it. I do like the return we got, and well I’d rather have players that you don’t have to worry about
