I think controlling the baseball was a bigger deal and has always been his problem.

Counsell's going to have some egg on his face for this one tonight.

I normally don't mind them hooking starters quickly but this is a case where circumstances where right to leave him in. They won't need Davies to start again for at least a week and even with the expanded roster it would have been good to get some of the pen rest.

But also I don't think the Cubs win a game this weekend so the Brewers losing tonight won't matter.

I guess if we're not going to get the division or the 1st WC spot, might as well be out of it as quickly as possible so the guys can get some rest.

This. Rest hader so he's ready to go 2 or even 3 innings. Hope him and woodruff can get you through most of that game.

What an annoying way to probably have to settle for a WC game on the road.

I'm almost more annoyed at Claudio than Black or Jackson. It would be pretty difficult to do your job less effectively than he did.

Claudio trade was still dumb.

Cards bullpen also implodes. 7-1 Cubs.

Can't get a home wild card but the division is still in play.
I'm against picketing but I don't know how to show it.

I think the Nats magic number will still be one after tonight. So if we win out and they don't, we're tied with them.

I legit don't want to see Scherzer. He's a stud. That dude will drop 8 innings of 3 hit ball with 12Ks on us.

And then he'll get pulled and the Nats will implode.

We beat them in the season series and can still tie them in the standings, so you're wrong.

I'd feel pretty good with a Woodruff, Suter, Pomeranz, Hader scenario in the wild card.

Man, it figures to finally get help from the Cubs but then we lose. Hard to imagine the Cubs winning again.
