That's what I think. Veiled. Kobe was closer than this to leaving in 2004 and almost had to be traded in 2007. This ain't even anywhere on par with either of those situations AT THIS POINT, so anyone saying it's dire on 9/28 is engaging in a little contemporary internet hyping like we all do from time to time here. Call me next Spring to see how the season went and if they annoyed him or not. Then we'll see.

Btw, they won't pressure him to play C, but he might have to figure out for himself that he has to if he really wants to contend for a title this year. It's either put up or shut up. He is truly daft if he doesn't realize that his Brawn window is sittin at 1 and (1) and dude is Old Man Akron.

It's a bit of bitch move to demand a trade to a particular team, having them sell the farm for you, then not even pretend that they are the front runners for him (before anything has even gone wrong). That said, I'm guessing LeBron and Klutch will strong arm him to stay.

I don’t think the Lakers are too worried.

AD wanted to be in LA.
LA traded the farm for him.

Saying “I will definitely resign” doesn’t do much for anyone others than worried fans and Lakers haters. He could bolt but I highly doubt it unless the Lakers FO mucks it up and that is a small concern with all the circus acts recently.

AD is the future for the Lakers.

And as KD's example showed, he would be getting it even with a torn achilles or ACL.

just like with Kawhi Playoff Team Killer Leonard and the raptors , its the risk you take and the price you pay. of course we have to stay the course and make him want to reup long term but its smart on his side to do this as should every big time free agent to be

besides with Space Jam 2 coming out next summer and him being a NIke guy both he and Nike BRand Endorser lebron starring in it, i got a hunch he's gonna be here as long as lebron is at the least.

I’m not 100% AD would get same consideration as KD if he tore his Achilles. KD has accomplished a lot more. And were not even sure KD will be the same player.

That’s a very nice neighborhood too (of course).
He’s on record saying he absolutely loves the city of LA even before he demanded a trade.

So AD was once again asked to commit to the Lakers and refused to do so beyond this season. Saying "I just want to focus on this year" sticking to his previous comments he made in july (viewtopic.php?f=6&t=1874574) ""I don't know what's gonna happen, I have one year here" and his agents comments before the trade when he stated in a Sports Illustrated feature: "I can't say it no bigger we are going into free agency 2020. Anthony Davis will be in free agency"

So what can the Lakers do to convince him to stay? How bad do they have to be for him to leave?

Did you think he was going to change his tune on media day? When has that ever happened?

If the season goes well, he will commit to the Lakers. If not, probably not.

There are Big 2s all around the league now and AD could complete an unstoppable Big 3 if he wanted to guarantee himself a ring.

I think it sounds exactly what it is AD wants to keep his options open for FA. Which is interesting/thread worthy and why I posed the question what do the Lakers have to do to convince him to stay and how bad does it have to get before he leaves.

He´s not leaving with LeBron under contract for at least one more season.

He will sign a 1+1 in the summer.

This doesn't make sense. AD demanded a trade to the LA Lakers. He didn't say he wanted to go to Los Angeles, he specifically said the Lakers. Now that he is on the Lakers he refuses to commit to this franchise beyond this season?

I would be worried if I was a Lakers fans. At the same time I think AD is the most overrated player in NBA history so I wouldn't care if he left.

You see people in one thread killing Kyrie for backing off his commitment to the Celtics in one thread and then killing AD for committing to the Lakers in another. Kyrie was dumb to say that and Davis is smart to hold this line until he signs next summer. The Lakers are the overwhelming favorite to retain him but we've also seen tons of examples of guys and teams changing their minds, including the last time the Lakers traded for an all-NBA big guy a year from free agency.

Whoa Whoa Whoa.... People are totally missing the point. This is not about the Lakers contract.

Do you not think AD didn't see all the FREE OFFERS that Kawhi Leonard got to stay in Toronto?

Free meals for life, A free luxury Condo. Fans were offering him anything and everything to stay.

This is Los Angeles... the Goodie Bags will be bigger and better. Back the trucks to AD LA mansion. Beg him to stay.
