DIfference is we had lance Thomas/Kadeem Allen and other bums on the roster. You don’t think he is going to prefer playing Payton and Morris down the stretch because he trusts them?

Watch Payton/Ellington/Morris/randle continuously finishing games

That unit, with Mitch, is my prediction for starting 5

DSJ(21)/Frank(21)
Trier(22)/Dotson(25)/RJ(19)
Knox(20)/Iggy(20)
Randle(25)
Mitch(21)/Portis(24)

I would prefer that group as the rotation. Morris(30) will start. Payton(24) will play. Taj(34) will mentor and most likely play some minutes. There's no need for Ellington(32)/Bullock(28) to even be here. Time will tell how this plays out. You can't please everyone.

Ellington/Bullock both shot I higher percentage from 3 than ANYONE on last years rosters... and having said that we still don’t have ONE player on the roster that shoots 40% from 3

Also Knox can be used as a floor spacer. There are options and different lineups he can go to. Everybody just assumes he's going with the vets but he never said he's doing that. He's likely going to use a mix and it all depends on matchups and so on

I just don’t think he’s a very good coach :dontknow:

There really aren't very good coaches out there. Most of the guys in the league look better or worse because of their talent or lack of it. I think he's fine for our young group, they all rave about him, so for now he's fine.

There's actually a lot of good coaches out there, but instead of hiring someone on coaching ability, we hired someone for their relationship factor. The Coach of The Year, Mike Budenholzer said the Knicks was his dream job. But we didn't want that. We wanted someone that's better at luring free agents, and Fizdale has a solid network because he's friends with Lebron.

I get all of that. We are really in no rush to chase wins though. Let the kids develop their skills. Maybe we do get a 40% shooter it if the current group.

It's gonna be a frustrating year watching Fiz try to balance wins and development. The minutes crunch in our BC doesn't look promising. It bleeds over into the SF position. I would prefer to see more of the youth...but...it is what it is. If they develop and win...who am I to complain?

It's not like there are tons of guys who shoot 40% from 3. Just 20 guys or so from last year shot 40% or better from 3. Obviously the team needs to improve its 3p shooting, but there is no reason why there can't be improvement if the players put in the work this offseason. The team was bad from 3 last year with just 34% as a team, but the 10th best team shot 35.6%. Definitely an area that needs improvement for sure. Hopefully Knox, RJ, DSJ can show what they've been working on all offseason.

You are aware that Bud doesn't like young players, prefers veterans, it's why he had no interest in being part of a rebuilding Hawks team, went to the Bucks because he wanted to coach a vet team, right? Everybody says the Knicks are their dream job, ofcourse they do, because they get to live in NYC and Knicks are known for paying coaches good money

You know what would happen if we hired him? He would want half the roster sent to the GLeague, trades made for veterans, he would have never clicked with the front office and probably would have ended up being fired by now.

Wrong, Trier shot better than both of them.

except he is, who did they overpay? Maybe Taj, but this team needed a true vet that has been around the block.

Who did we overpay?

Taj
Ellington
Payton
Portis
Morris
Arguably Randle

Every one of them is making probably double their market value.

gonna need some explanations? Especially Randle at 18m that sounds like a dam steal especially considering he is better than kp and tobias harris who got max contracts.

payton at 8m - corey joseph got 12m. Idk about you but I am taking Payton over joseph easy.
