They may need to replace Ky Bowman with a center.

Beat me to the punch with the Willie injury. Late October, is a crazy long time for a strain. Must be severe.

I doubt they sign another big right now. They will merely take a harder look at Spellman and Smiley to see how they handle an upgraded role. Might be a blessing in the long run.

Here's your chance kids! (Smiley/Spellman) Make it happen!

Smiley is still very raw. Asking him to sink or swim at 19 years old isn't a good idea imo

Of course we won't "RELY" on him in a make or break way.

What I'm saying is, its an opportunity for him to show where he's at, RIGHT NOW, by getting a good long look from the coaches. if he shows an ability to be where he's supposed to be, and play under control, then you might see some early season minutes from him based on Willie's injury. However if Stein comes back healthy, then of course Smiley goes right back to Santa Cruz where he can get lots of playing time.

Gonna be fun to see how Lee, Poole, Evans, Burks, and Robinson all compete, and who fits where. I'm not confident in any of them right now. I think Lee is a lock to be the "Shooter" off the bench. Down the road, I love Poole's potential. Evans, Burks, Robinson, meh

Knock on wood Loon stays healthy until WCS Returns.

Smiley is not ready for NBA minutes.

Agreed. 30+ minutes for him all season in the Cruz.

But, with this early opportunity be ause of Willie being out, it will give the coaches a long look at him and what he will need to work on.

If by chance he does get a few minutes until Willie is ready, there is a good scenario for him.

He will be forced to simplify his game by just focusing on Rebounding and defense. He won't be allowed to be looking for his shot, or trying to dribble his way into looks. He just needs to keep it simple. That is the only way Kerr will give him time.

Great Klay interview. He's really growing up. Check the end of the video, lol, classic Klay.

By the way, he looks like his lower lip got stung by a bee.

He does. Last summer I really think those Rico Hines workouts/open runs did wonders for him. This summer I don't think he attended much.

Agreed. I think Pascal Siakam was apart of those workouts as well.

Looney couldn’t really work out until a month ago because of his chest. I’d expect him to be a bit rusty.

Really Omari has a huge chance to impress this training camp

Man, I know it's still pre-season but having our bigs dinged up has me worried. And if WCS won't even be updated until the end of October, he will likely miss at least the first few weeks of the regular season as well. And a hammy for Loon is concerning; if you re-tweak those before fully healed, you could be out for a while.

It’s not ideal because we want to save his legs but Green can cover the center position for an extended period if needed.

And someone else has to cover his spot. The worst thing about the WCS injury is missing training camp. It takes a long time for a new player to catch up, considering there's little practice during the season and nothing like the intensive work you get during camp.

Exactly right. I was hoping that D-Lo and WCS could perfect their PnR timing during training camp.

No doubt but Paschall can play the 4. McKienne can play spare minutes there as a small ball 4. It’s not ideal but we can cover for a little. I also think it’s too early to really be concerned about the injuries.Looney will likely be good to go game 1. WCS should be fine soon there after. His role also will be one of the simpler roles to integrate.
