He underperformed in the sense that he never learned how to create his own shot on offense. A lot of his points were putbacks or lobs. That said, he also never forced anything and his FG% remains quite high.

Chandler was a pretty good defender in Chicago. And had his best season with the New Orelean Hornets. Considering how bad pure centers were during the era, I think he was top 5-ish.

Dwight
Yao
Bynum
???
Chandler?

His stats from his first four years SCREAM bust. Look it up.

He was out or high school playing a role that requires strength. I dont think u can judge those years with too mich scrutiny. Wasnt good offensively but decent rebounder

I think some people pegged Embiid as a Greg Oden case.

There's Oladipo

Marcus Camby struggled in Toronto and was buried on the Knicks' bench for a while

Marvin Williams

D'Angelo Russell (whose season, forgive me, I think was generally wayyy overrated)

Chauncey Billups is a noted late bloomer

Who else?

I wouldn't consider Oladipo a bust early in his career.

And Camby didn't struggle in Toronto. 12 points, 7.8 rebounds, 3.7 blocks (!), 1.8 assists and 1.1 steals in his second year.

Oladipo wasn't a super bust but he was certainly underwhelming for his draft position. Remember how much everyone laughed at the return the pacers received for Paul george?

The problem with Oladipo is that OKC happened to him. He had a natural progression from 1st to 2nd to 3rd year, and we can imagine he could have had the same progression in his 4th year if he didn't got to OKC.

4.5

Now switch that 4th year with the same natural progression, you get 3.3 in his 4th year and now that 4.5 looks pretty normal.

He still overall did a bigger jump in his 5th year, but not as much as some people are making it out to be. OKC was simply the wrong situation for him with Westbrook. All his stats are showing that he was getting better until he got to OKC.
