I really do not want CP on this team. It's like taking 2 steps forward but end up 5 steps back. Short sighted.

Re: Around the NBA streets Vol. 3: YEERPP!
If you guys are looking to add a great player in the next few years, I'd look at J.Embiid. He mentioned in his exit interview that it would make him very happy if they brought Butler back, actually said he wishes Butler was still on the team. The decision to move on from Butler was a much bigger decision then fans realize, there are certain paths(which may never materialize) where that decision could end up having Embiid wanting out. If Philly doesn't get to the finals in the next couple of years or if Miami/Butler were able to knock Philly out of the playoffs, I'd have to think Embiid might think about going somewhere else. Then again, if Philly wins a Championship then of course that all goes out the window.
Had I been Brand, I would have kept Butler, Embiid and Harris and strengthened the team by moving Simmons(and I think Simmons could be a MVP level talent, with a team built for him). You'd have defense, clutch play, an MVP/DOPY candidate and a solid 2nd/3rd option that can shoot 3s.

Him(possibly in the future) wanting out doesn't have has very little to do with the end of his contract. I can point towards Anthony Davis, Paul George, and Miami's very own J.Butler who forced themselves out while under contract, there's already people looking at Towns' situation.
Just consider the mindset of Embiid if a guy he bonded with and thought he could be highly successful with could have been retained but wasn't because management decided to go in another direction.
Personally, I think Brand is starting to build more around Simmons which might be more about Embiid's health than who is more dominant. I look at that roster and I see Horford who easily is a better fit at center(and they paid him a ton at an older age, seems to dictate being a center in the coming years), Harris a better fit at the 4 than the 3 in the current game, Simmons(really a 3) handling the ball, Josh Richardson at the 2 leaving whoever at the the other position as another floor spacer and probably a wing to allow even more switching(maybe Z.Smith). Embiid and Horford will be dominate most nights in the regular season, but once they get past the 1st round in the playoffs, they might not be able to be played together all that much because of the matchups. Unless Philly makes the finals in the next 2 years, I could see them moving one of the young guys(won't be so young by then) to go all in on either of the young guy's talents. Switching out a much better player in Embiid for someone like B.Lopez may actually make a Ben Simmons' team better because of the fit which would allow Simmons to do more.

All of this ignores the simple problem that we need talent, assets to make that happen. If the 76er didnt want Jrich Butler and all his whining doesnt get him here since had no space.

Talent/assets in the next couple of years(which is what I'm getting at, not now, probably not next off season), Winslow and Bam should be better players, Herro could be an asset and also Miami will have more 1st round picks available to move a year or 2 down the road. Also, I'm guessing Embiid would let it be known if he'll sign an extension with whoever trades for him, which would cut down the trade partners Philly would have available. Boston took the chance with Kyrie and lost him for nothing.
Although Embiid is a better player then Bam, Bam could keep up with Simmons in a faster paced game and while not a 3pt shooter to help space the court, would be a great player to pick and roll with Simmons with his athletic ability to go up and finish alley oops.
Not saying it's going to happen, but I could see multiple scenarios where it would be a possibility plus I also think the Horford signing will allow the 76ers to really see what building around Simmons will look like. If they move on of the younger guys, they'll get a lot of talent back which may end up being much better fits.
