Ben is either confident because he knows he’s improved or he’s hardcore trolling us

I have to say i didnt like what Embiid was focusing on in the summer. Shooting of the dribble is usually a bad shoot to take and him trying to drive will only lead to turnovers and, possibly, injuries.

Also i dont think that Simmons said he became a shooter, he said he became more confident and will take the shot no matter the result.

Shooting off the dribble was the last thing I wanted to hear. I wanted to hear that he practiced post hook shots and passing out of double teams.

Actually if you ask me which Center I want for my perfect championship caliber team, I will chose Asik hands down

I like it and ive been saying that he has to focus more on shooting than forcing his way at the post.

Post offense should be last resort. It should only be used on a mismatch.

Isn’t it weird that he complements himself like that? It’s scary to add a jump shot to an already all star.....sounds a little arrogant....

I'd prefer that to him trying to convince himself it's true.

Not really, you play the way you are at your best. If a player is better at post offense than shooting, then he should employ post offense.
What he is saying is not that he will stop doing post offense, but that he is adding other ways to score, like shooting off the dribble. So when post offense is not working because teams are sending double teams, he will face up and shoot off the dribble or drive. He is not doing it just because copycat league and analytics people are telling him to do it.

Shooting off the dribble is not a good shot generally speaking. Embiid turning into a jump shooter and trying to play like a wing at his height and weight is bad, efficiency wise but also in terms of injury risk.

It is not bad to have more tools in your toolbox but he should first master essential skills for a big man like having a left and right hook shot or passing out of double teams.

Defenses would be happy to give him as many off the dribble 2s as he wants, but i dont think it will help the team if he takes them.

I think he means getting better at taking people off the dribble. Like isolating and getting to the rim.

The getting better at shooting was it’s own separate thing.

One thing I’m unclear on is how much he was really able to deal with contact this summer with rehabbing his knee. Sort of limits what you can work on.

I haven't got an app or know-how to look it up (not a stats geek), but wasn't Simmons ft shooting in the high 70's % for the last 20 or so games of the regular season ?

Showed a decent improvement. I hope that confidence flows to a mid-range catch & shoot.
Simmons showed an improvement in his FT% in the 2018 playoffs, but that was a result of low sample size. It wasn't sustainable, just like Roco's hot shooting to begin the 2018 season wasn't sustainable.

Just like the last few minutes of guys getting shots up and talking to the media, mostly media twitter people, for example:

https://twitter.com/MrUram

Sixers posted some pictures and a short video of Thybulle scoring on Korkmaz on their twitter

Article by David Murphy emphasizes a lot of team camaraderie and "getting along" quotes: https://www.inquirer.com/sixers/sixers-training-camp-cohesion-defense-tobias-harris-al-horford-20191002.html

Did they all hate Jimmy that much? lol

Nah not hate... but he wasn't a great fit overall. Seemed he didn't think all that much of BB at least not initially... by the end of the year ended up calling it a "growing relationship" or something with Brett Brown.

There were seemingly times in the regular season when Jimmy just refused to shoot it... whether that was him sulking or not who knows... but when the ball did end up in his hands alot in ISO it meant guys like Tobias weren't getting touches... especially after Embiid and JJ was the focus of most of the offensive sets.

I think overall we will do better if we become more of a pass first and less of an ISO team... and it became more of an equal opportunity offense. I don't think Jimmy is happy with that.... but then when has Jimmy been happy.

Jimmy is a weirdo but I also just think it’s hard to develop real chemistry when you make multiple huge mid season trades. We talked how all last year that was an issue and how the team would be better without making any moves just by having a summer and training camp to get to know each other better.

Also remember that a lot of this is driven by the media asking about it. Ben is much more inclined to answer a puff question about people liking each other than a 50th question about his jump shot.
