I'll go ahead and make a sig bet that Mikal is better by RPM this year than Zach.

There are some announcers who’s atrociousness is enjoyable and has a way of earning the embrace of fans....

Neil Funk is not one of those announcers.

His vitriol, even rooting for the team I root for, was pretty out of hand. And his inability to get names correct has been an increasing problem. Looking forward to a more level-headed playcaller.

Thank god. He was just awful and not in a lovable way. I hope Chuck Swirsky finally gets a shot, but when we met him he didn't seem optimistic that he would.

I'll add that I think Wayne Larivee and Tom Dore got a bum deal. I know they're both kind of dorky, but they have great voices and did an infinitely better job than Funk.

Yeah Neil is very bad at announcing. I'd like some fresh blood.

I loved Neil on the radio, I don't think he translated as well to TV. I'm excited for a fresh voice.

It’s hard for me to even thank him because I was never a radio listener, and on television I considered him one of the absolute worst in the business.

Nothing personal. I hope he enjoys a long and healthy retirement. But I’m glad he’s hanging it up.

I've enjoyed the late-stage Funk. I think he's absolutely hilarious (often unintentionally). Weirdly, him and Stacey also have a great twisted chemistry since they're nothing alike.

None of the other dudes we've seen so far move the needle. IMO they're tryhards and generally too desperate to be relaxed. Funk hasn't given a f**k for a long time and that's fantastic. He makes being on autopilot sound good.

Good news. I don't dislike many announcers, but I sure dislike Funk.

I mean we sort of knew this going into last season. After the test replacements last year, I still don't know who has the upper hand.

I love Chuck, but I love Chuck in any capacity.

I don't know who the guy is, but the guy who called the Archie save to Porter/Alley to Lavine play has that Toronto raptors play calling vibe. He is probably the only other person that stood out to me.

lol me too! I actually enjoy and think it's hilarious when he calls players by the wrong name or when he bashes guys on the other team for no apparent reason. It adds entertainment value!

Wouldn't be surprised to see Hinrich get a shot
Please no, to finally get rid of Funk and then get Hinrich would be bitter. Benneti was good. Do we get a lot of different commentators again? Or do we have to go through a whole season of Funk?

I think we still gotta hear him all season bud. Brace yourself! It would be nice if it was home only like what Hawk Harrelson did in his final year, but i don't think so

Ease up young-ins!
Funk called the Jordan years on radio and forgot more about the Bulls than the guys ripping him here ever knew.
Besides that, none of the guest announcers they had were worth a sh*t anyways.
Jim Durham was actually THE MAN, but, I digress...
Or to those around in Motta years, Art Fleming, "the Bulls are out of the pack and running"....
