I think it's understood that he is saying it has to start with a mentality. Of course toughness alone isn't the be all/end all.

For me Kanter saying it was all BS bc defense is not his reputation. But when a player who has won playoff games and is known for defense and toughness its great hearing it from him.

What defense? Morris talks more trash than he plays actual defense.

I still remember Kris Middleton killing him a couple years ago in the playoffs. Morris tried getting in his head and Middleton just kept giving him buckets

Zo shoots but doesn't defend.
Frank defends but doesn't shoot.
DSJ does both okay but not particularly well.

Dotson?

Is Dotson able to play right now? I thought his shoulder was hurt.

And I'm not being cynical about Morris saying it, it's something I expect to hear. I'm still talking about people acting like we don't go through this song and dance every year

Is this not a possible frontcourt rotation though?

Morris 20/Knox 15/ Barrett 13
Randle 25/Morris 10/Knox 8/Portis 5
Mitch 28/Portis 12/Randle 8

Maybe Portis gets shorted but he's already come out saying he knows he's the backup Center and he seems the least likely to really care about not getting 20 MPG. Knox at 20-25 mpg this year and working on efficiency is exactly where I would want him and Morris is getting a generous 30 mpg there which is more than he got in Boston so I don't see why he would be mad about that.

IDK it just seems like people are making a mountain out of a molehill when it comes to the frontcourt rotation. Gibson is going to play very sparingly IMO especially as the year goes along. They wouldn't have signed Portis if they planned on playing Gibson any sort of significant time this year.

Thing is is, because of how the NBA is now, you have to take into account the backcourt rotation too, cause you have RJ and Dot can play the 3, then we're most certainly gonna be playing 2 PG lineups with DSJ and Payton with Trier at the 3, and if Frank's shot is legit, he definitely deserves minutes, and that makes it even more crowded. Hell, throw Ellington in there as well

Yeah I was actually going to say I think the backcourt is much trickier to figure out than the frontcourt. We'll find out quickly exactly who the front office values out of our young guys there. The good thing about it is most of the guys vying for the playing time there are actually young especially with Bullock out. Even Payton is only 25! And I know he's already the next Mudiay around these parts but he actually improved a decent amount last year and was in line for a good year before he got hurt very early on and then the Pelicans season tanked with the AD trade saga.... The only nightmare scenario I see is if Ellington is pulling 30 minute shifts but I really don't see any signs of that happening.

I value both Randle and Morris. We could have survived without the others, but we will thrive with these two.

Taj also is one of those guys I think is great for the culture. As long as he plays less mins he can def be our best locker room presense

I forgot he’s a Knick now so his reputation goes down the drain.

he was my favorite signing too. but not because he's hard or not, he's actually a good player.

14 & 6 on 45 and 37.5 from 3 last year. that's good production.

God... it's really almost here isn't it? This offseason has felt longer than usual, I'm just amazed we're almost ready for our first preseason game. I'm just hoping for actual competition for positions and there's no politics going behind moves here. Let the best men play, let the kids earn their minutes. We have a team of mercenaries, let them earn their one year contract.

“Fiz didn’t put in any plays yet we just working on our fast break stuff and sharing the game right now” -Knox

Fiz don’t fuq around man, I’m trying to like you. We need an actual offense... did not want to hear that. I better hear some news about plays etc later this week.
