he was my favorite signing too. but not because he's hard or not, he's actually a good player.

14 & 6 on 45 and 37.5 from 3 last year. that's good production.

Yup, he is a solid player that contributes on both ends, spaces the floor and fills a need. He should fit in well.

Berman asked Mook how he feel about how the crowd will react to him in game one.

Mook: “I’m from north Philly man’ if you gunna boo me boo me”

Fiz did say the team last year we couldn’t retain too much complex stuff and this group can handle more. He’s admitting last year was heavy iso and pick and roll. This is really his year to show he can do something.

Berman pressing hard to find out about the playbook which is good. He hasn’t really said anything specific about the offense.

Fiz said something slick like “I can’t wait to read this article”

So no one has any details on how RJ is handling training camp? All the other training camp nonsense I don't really care about tell me about RJ!

I think the Randle/Morris/Knox situation isn't as dire as you make it seem. They're all going to find minutes. I think Fiz will go with a 11-12 man rotation to start and then it will wittle down from there. I personally think Marcus gets traded, especially if Knox can show some efficiency in a smaller role. I think those 3 will actually play at least 5-10 minutes together every game and I think people are projecting Mitch for too many minutes. I still think he will hover around 25-30 mpg especially since he will have his foul trouble games.

And I know what you're saying as a cynical person, but what exactly do you want them to say? "We plan on being average on defense!" CMon dude... These are people at the top of their profession who have to have extreme confidence in what they do to be as successful as they are.

They would, if you don't introduce Mitch and Portis into the equation, who also both want and think they deserve minutes. Our problem is we're deep, but nobody's particularly amazing. We have a lot of really decent players who all have a case for getting at least 20-25 minutes

And I'm not being cynical about Morris saying it, it's something I expect to hear. I'm still talking about people acting like we don't go through this song and dance every year

Is this not a possible frontcourt rotation though?

Morris 20/Knox 15/ Barrett 13
Randle 25/Morris 10/Knox 8/Portis 5
Mitch 28/Portis 12/Randle 8

Maybe Portis gets shorted but he's already come out saying he knows he's the backup Center and he seems the least likely to really care about not getting 20 MPG. Knox at 20-25 mpg this year and working on efficiency is exactly where I would want him and Morris is getting a generous 30 mpg there which is more than he got in Boston so I don't see why he would be mad about that.

IDK it just seems like people are making a mountain out of a molehill when it comes to the frontcourt rotation. Gibson is going to play very sparingly IMO especially as the year goes along. They wouldn't have signed Portis if they planned on playing Gibson any sort of significant time this year.

I like this as it gives the right amount of playing time to the front court, with even some allowance for Morris to take about a 4 minute playing cut, but gives RJ 13 minutes at SF, which, if you figure he gets about 15 at SG, opens up 33 mpg at SG, which can be split among two players (Trier + ?). Then there is still 48 mpg at PG to divide, which is some kind of two player split.

Gotta say, KP handled that one like a pro. Just keeping it real. Plus, RJ will look like a smacked ass if KP sends one of his shots into the 10th row. That's why you need to keep your damn mouth shut when you're a rookie. What RJ said is locker room bulletin board stuff. The Mavs will make sure there's a lot of talk about this before we play them just to put a lot of pressure on RJ. They'll be all over RJ. Bet on it. Especially, with Carlisle as coach. He's "Old School."

These guys we signed are going to be looking for their next big pay day. I can see Randle, Morris, and Portis taking the majority of the shots so prepare yourself to layout some bricklayers.

Pretty sure this game was already circled on the schedule for KP way before RJ said anything. If anything I bet KP is going to be pressing way more to get back at the Knicks in the Garden.

We’ll never really know what happened here and why he wanted out (or if he wanted out) but it’s hard to hate the guy by the way he speaks and carries himself. I know it’s not popular round these parts but I don’t hate the kid.

Sounds like tunnel vision drives, contested jumpers after post-ups and lack of offensive identity. Bringing the ball up court fast seems like Fiz's only concern. He is clueless afterwards. As he praised the offensive coaches of the newcomers, I wonder if it was the roster of the last year to not being able to retain a lot of complications or it was him?
As Knox saying Fiz didn’t put in any plays yet and team is just working on fast break and sharing the game, it scares me even more. Not just about this season but when Fiz will start developing our youngsters?

I love how when we compare the Knicks Front Office to other front offices we're the dumb ones and every other front office is the smart one... yet people on here still think that people are going to just jack up shots while on the Knicks to get a contract from another team.... As if other nba franchises don't have advanced numbers and other data that we can't even dream of having to tell them if someone is a chucker or not... that narrative is so tired and dumb. If you want proof that it's not an effective way to get a deal look at the guys who were labeled chuckers and selfish on the team last year and what kind of contracts they got this summer. Any agent worth their salt isn't going to tell someone in today's nba to volume score and shoot unless they warrant it because it doesn't get you paid anymore. Rant over.

This is the Knicks camp thread...take the 'around' stuff to the other thread....especially if it's about that guy.
