He is playing JJ and Jimmy’s role. Combined.

I'm not saying he's not a good player, but he's not the type of player that takes over games like Butler was at times last year. At minimum, I feel like a max player should be capable of doing that.

Well he's not on a max contract 8-)

He got into a nice situation with his low cap hold, and got the Sixers to pay a premium to bring him back. I think he'll take over more this year, but the sort of guys that just take over playoff series dont exactly grow on trees.

I hope so. Summer league was rough, but unlike Neto and Burke he's locked up long term, and has the size that fits the team's identity. Gotta earn it though.

And the misses look bad, which is not going to encourage him to keep shooting.

I think we get less than a dozen total threes from Ben this year.

I hope so!

I honestly see us going to Richardson more in crunch time though. Feel like he has the requisite skills to create.

Definitely possible. That stretch at the end of the first half (I think Korkmaz was in with the starters instead of JR?) where the bench guys were basically not letting the starters get into the offense is the sort of worst case scenario for this team.

Part of it though is that we just have some really good defensive players on the bench. Thybulle will get the highlights with his roaming but Zhaire and Ennis are both good lockup guys.

i hope burke doesn't make the team. he's garbage and always has been. i believe he doesn't have a fully guaranteed contract.

Agreed.

The form looks much improved. He doesn’t have to make them this year. He just has to take them.

Hell, I’m not even sure that he has to take 3’s this year. I just want him to take jump shots.

If, by the end of the season, he is taking 1 3 pointer a game, and making 1 out of 4 of them it will be huge progress.

Did Richardson score at all? Feel like he was completely involved in the offense. I'm through the second half and can't recall him shooting once, or initiating the offense at all.

Disappointing to see. Feel like he was just relegated to the corner.

Hmmm guess I just missed it (I was skipping ahead at times). Did he seem involved in the offense, or was he just sitting in corner getting kick outs?

He took guys on the dribble a few times, had at least one pull up in mid range.

Made 16 from 26 shots.

I don't think that is 30%.

Any jumpers from Ben or was it only that fadeaway?

It's 61% but in the context of the fact that it's in an open gym and multiple shots from the same spot... that is absolutely horrid. Hell even I shoot between 70 to 80% according to the Homecourt app whenever I go down to the gym and I'm a 48 year old with bad knees.

He's already said he knows he's gonna miss a bunch but now he doesn't care about what folks think...so we'll see if that holds true. Imo it's not about hitting a ton of threes this season..it's about hitting jumpers from at least 10-15 foot range like he did In his rookie season and finding a consistent, workable stroke.

What i meant was, in game, i can only see him shoot 30% at best
