This is truly truly sad on so many levels.

Never did I ever think the people of Hong Kong would be fighting like this. Especially amongst each other. Been a couple decades since my family immigrated from HK - still home.

Well today is the PRC national day, so it is now happening in full force in multiple districts now. My walking (due to no bus or subway) route to home is now blocked.

There are clips now that just an hour or two ago, one of the protesters was being shot in the chest with a 0.38 bullet and is now in critical condition. May God bless him.

It's very disheartening to hear that Trump made a promise to China to turn a blind eye on Hong Kong... in return for personal political favors.

America has never agreed to turned their back on atrocities... at least not in modern times. The Syrian people were left to fight alone. We allowed an American journalist to be murdered by Saudi Arabia without any ramifications. Now, Hong Kong is under attack. I have no doubt that there were conversations and agreements made on all of these situations... and it wasn't for the benefit of America or our allies.

This administration is unacceptable... and I'm a registered Republican (although that has never influenced my vote. I'm more of an independent.)

If TRUMP really betrays Hong Kong like that, at least American have a chance to cast the vote to kick him out, but we people in Hong Kong needs to give second and third and fourth chance to a failing government. That is why freedom and democracy is so treasurable.

Meanwhile Iraq is having hundreds of death to stand against their government. It is just painful to see.

Just to share a song by Hong Kong orchestra, in Cantonese and English.

Khashoggi was not american, he was Saudi, he just lived in the US.

Marco Rubio, Pelosi, republicans and democrats have expressed bipartisan support for HK and the bill that is progressing through the congress and senate.

He was a US resident with 3 US citizen children and worked for a leading media agency in the United States. He was working to expose the atrocities of a dictator, who is ahead of the country with the worst civil rights record in history. Not to mention, the country that provided monetary support to the 9/11 suicide terrorists and their families.

Khashoggi was not violent and promoted civil rights and democracy. Yet, he was murdered by the Saudi Arabian regime. Trump not only did nothing. He wouldn't acknowledge it and was shaking Prince Mohammed Bin Salman's hand within weeks. Many prominent Republicans and Democrats spoke out about it and were furious.... just as they are now with Hong Kong. Hong Kong will get the same level of support.

This new drama between Morey's tweet in support of HK and now the CBA and Chinese internet companies essentially boycotting an NBA franchise is particularly interesting. Rockets may be forced into firing Morey to appease their strong Chinese fan base. Let's see which morality is compromised first (since we know commercialism will win out in the end anyway).

I suppose it could be a money vs. money thing since Morey has been so important to Houston's success and therefore value, but I would bet Fertitta caves to sponsor pressure first. China isn't going to forgive and forget the Morey tweet with some kumbaya'ing from the NBA and ownership.
