Trade!!!

The Falcons announced Monday they have traded Duke Riley and a sixth-round pick to the Philadelphia Eagles for safety Jonathan Cyprien and a seventh-round pick.

This is coaching...pure and simple.

Amazingly, Atlanta has outgained every opponent this season, but the Falcons lead the league in penalties and are second-to-last in turnover margin. They aren't a good situational football team. They have the talent to turn this around, but they need better game plans and execution.

10 Dislikes from this season

The state of the Atlanta Falcons

Where to start with the disappointment? In their 24-10 loss to the Titans, the Falcons had 422 yards of total offense, yet they scored just one touchdown. On a fourth-and-1 in the second, Devonta Freeman was dropped for a 1-yard loss. On a fourth-and-1 in the third, Matt Ryan took a sack. On a fourth-and-4 in the fourth, he was sacked again.

To make matters worse, Jeff Schultz of The Athletic estimated that the stadium had 10,000 empty seats for this game. The Falcons still have enough talent where we shouldn’t completely rule out a turnaround, but this has been an embarrassing start.

Per Next Gen stats, the Falcons pressured the Texans quarterback on just 6 percent of his dropbacks, which is a career low — and especially notable since Watson had already been sacked 18 times this season (including six times last week).

The postgame quote from Houston wide receiver Keke Coutee that Atlanta ran a “a pretty basic defense that wasn’t going to do too much” is particularly damning of Falcons head coach Dan Quinn, who took over defensive play-calling duties.

To THEIR CREDIT, Falcons DEFENSE LOOKS rejuvenated since THE bye week:

Spoiler:
ATLANTA 29, CAROLINA 3

FALCONS (3-7): Thanks to a suddenly fierce pass rush, Atlanta's defense has been one of the league's best the past two weeks. After sacking New Orleans' Drew Brees six times in a Week 10 win, Atlanta went on the road and sacked Kyle Allen five times for 55 yards. Defensive end Adrian Clayborn has unexpectedly become a pass-rushing contributor, picking up his first three sacks of the season over these past two games. It is just the second time in franchise history that the Falcons have picked up at least five sacks in back-to-back road games. With back-to-back blowout road victories against divisional opponents with winning records, Dan Quinn has made an emphatic claim to keep his job.

GAME GRADE: A+

Thankful Quinn stopped calling the defensive plays.

This Sunday should be a nice revenge game for Coach Koetter:

San Fran is up next.
While they have some injuries, so do we, but they just had a hard fought match with New Orleans that lead to a game winning Field Goal by the 49ers.

Against us the 49ers are favored to win by 10.5 points.

Winner: Onside Kick God Younghoe Koo

Sunday, Koo hit ANOTHER successful onside kick, only for it to get called back due to an illegal formation. Normally, if a team does something cool and it gets called back to a penalty, I don’t get too worked up—sure, that holding call brought back a touchdown, but, uh, they wouldn’t have scored without committing the holding penalty! Violations generally put teams at advantages, which is why they’re illegal. However, Koo’s successful onside kick was actually called back because of a rules infraction that put the Falcons at an obvious disadvantage.

..when the Falcons accidentally took the field with 10 guys—and couldn’t put five guys on either side of the ball—they were technically committing a violation.

That’s so dumb! Unfortunately, this rule is written poorly, and it prevented the Falcons from making an incredible play despite having the wrong amount of players.

The NFL should change this rule immediately. I need to see Koo go out on the field with exactly one other teammate, just to see if he can still connect on an onside kick. I bet he can do it.

Good win against Jacksonville today.
The bad was Matt Ryan throwing two INT's when Julio Jones was being double covered. I get it that JJ is always covered like that be the defense but both passes weren't close.
