Duncd on podcast with Dubin for NYK outlook

Mitch is a great defensive prospect
Randle is efficient offensively and somewhat passable as a switch defender
The PG battle - Frank might still get little time based on their past commitment to him, DSJ still too much potential to give up
Morris might be due for some regression
Knox should show more offensive punch
RBJ needs to be around shooters b/c he hasn’t shown enough of an ability to blow past guys
Iggy might be a steal b/c he has good role player potential
Rebounding is probably our best quality going in
Portis was an absolute pointless signing

I originally thought the same about the bolded but he's pretty clearly just our backup floor spacing 5. I don't see how it's pointless anymore. We desperately needed some shooting in the front court and he'll help us. It was an overpay but whatever it's one year and he'll help the spacing for guys like RJ and DSJ to attack.

Portis was actually a very good pick up and fills what we were desperately missing last year. He provides spacing, inside and outside scoring threat, and rebounding. Now don't get be wrong I would have preferred Vonleh for his defense alone, but felt he would become too big for his britches, but I've always liked Portis because of his play.

I agree with this - Portis will play hard, be good for spacing, and is needed because we couldn't keep Vonleh. He will accept is role and not become a Kanter. So why not spend more of Dolan's money on him this year? It won't hurt us if we find a FA we want next year.

Can't wait to read tonight how this guy is a bust or that guy is a bust cause of the first preseason game or how Ntilikina is Jrue Holiday cause he hit a jumper without hesitating.

But seriously, I'm glad Knicks basketball is back! Life is back to normal! :)

That's why during the season I don't come on here unless there was something positive from our youth.

I think I going to start taking this approach. I might lurk, but, I'll try to sticking to positive things for the most part too. We have enough negativity surrounding the team without us adding to it

Yeah otherwise you'll hear stuff like " Kevin Had 17pts and 8rbs today but had the ball snatched away by Zion Williamson. Kevin is garbage and should be traded asap sense he's not strong enough to hold the ball!"

I’ve had a stress free summer. Coming here could really screw with you.

Terrible idea. Knox can barely guard the SF position

I heard we had more people in our open practice than they (the Nets) had in their preseason game.

if you want to maximize Kevin Knox, you utilize him as a stretch 4 that slides off of off ball screens. Using him as a 2 heightens everything he’s bad at.

Fizdale stinks. Oh well.

Fiz has Knox at the 2, Morris at the 3, Randle running point…We really are about to go with all PF lineups.

C: Horford | Goga | Paul Reed |
PF: Lauri Markkanen | Randle | Tucker
SF: Trey Murphy | Trent | Anderson | Simone

If RJ shows that he can handle being the lead guard I would actually be like semi intrigued with a

RJ
Knox
Morris
Randle
Mitch

unit. That lineup could actually work well against a team like Philly who is absolutely massive. You just hide Knox on the least offensive inclined wing on the other team and hope RJ's size can bother other lead guards. It's worth a shot at some point. The new inefficiency in basketball currently is finding switchable size on defense. Philly and Milwaukee built great defenses based around that.

I think we would be too slow and clunky with not enough ball handlers, defense and shooting. Teams would pack the paint. Nobody can guard quicker players in that lineup.
Even against Philly, they would pretty much have us beat at every position. Not sure if we can keep up with them at their own game.
