That would make him a taller Westbrook, not that I am complaining

Yeah. Westbrookesque shooting is something my mind can accept right now.

Whatever the 76ers planned on paying Simmons next year, will be a few percentages higher. He's going to be at least 3rd team All-NBA.

His numbers will be better. He's already 16-8-8 and his assists are going to go up, because he has more catch-and-shoot players than he had last year. He's going to be in consideration for the All-defense team.

Kemba Walker isn't going to get the numbers that he had in Charlotte. He's going to have to share the ball in Boston and if he doesn't, they're going to lose. Russell Westbrook's numbers will take a hit in Houston. Bradley Beal will be on the worst team in the NBA for at least half the season, so I think he takes a hit. Any uptick in Simmons' numbers will put him on that 3rd team All-NBA, IMO.

Even if Walker doesn't have the same numbers he'll still have the Boston hive mind behind him now. Remember they were arguing Kyrie was an MVP candidate his first year. Barring injury I expect him to still beat Ben out. One of those things I'd be fine with being wrong about though. 2% more (plus raises) really isn't a very big deal.

Yeah, the Boston media machine may help Kemba. But this narrative that Kemba is close to Kyrie Irving is pure fantasy. Kemba's shooting isn't in the same Galaxy as Kyrie Irving's and he's worse defensively. And in the end, sitting in Charlotte in anonymity, was a benefit to Kemba. People don't even know he had a terrible 2nd half last year. He won't get that benefit in Boston.

The thought is that Kemba, will do the same thing Isaiah Thomas did in 2016-17, but I don't see it happening in that way. IT was a superior shooter and he benefitted from the team running the offense through All Horford. In order for Kemba to get the numbers needed to get 3rd team, he'll have to play hero ball just like he did in Charlotte, and if he does, the Celtics will have a worse season than expected and he'll get the blame. I don't see Kemba's numbers going up on Boston, I can only see them going down because he has to share the ball.

In the end, Kemba scoring 24-3-6 on below average shooting for 3-5 seed, won't be able to outshine an 18-8-10 All-defense candidate, on a #1 or #2 seed, IMO.

So seeing the height and weight listing and that Ben is bigger than Horford. Would Ben make an amazing small ball 5 if he honed his post defence?

Ben is not that good on defense to play the 5. And if he plays the 5, then you have to trade Horford and Biid and build a team around Ben at 5 that emphasizes spacing and speed.

Smarter approach is to let him defend guards and let him attack guards at the post. For instance in the blue v white game, there were a handful of possessions when he was defended by Shake and Burke. And in those possessions, we should have let him operate at the post.

Ben doesn't have the wingspan to be a center.

Depends on the opposing lineup.

He'll likely never be able to defend the post or protect the rim with his t-rex arms. Ben at C would purely be a gimmicky switch defense thing as opposed to something we could use for meaningful stretches.

Ben Simmons is the 2nd tallest Starter, but he has the shortest wingspan.

It's one of the reasons I was nervous about drafting him as a Power Forward. Thought he wouldn't be able to defer the paint at all. Never thought they'd have the cujones to play him as full-time PG.

One of the main benefits of having a small ball 5 is that it forces the other team to go small because the 5 should be able to stretch the floor and force the opposition big out of the key. Ben can't shoot to save his life... so probably not going to work very well.

All I want to see is Ben try jumpers even if they aren't from range. Just give me three or four jumpers from ten feet and I'll be happy.

That was unbelievable!

The most exciting jumper in the history of the preseason, and it looked good too!

Good that he hit a 3, but after the whole Fultz saga and things getting crazy for his 4 or 5 three-pointers, I think I'll wait before getting too excited.

I'm glad he hit it. I just wish it wasn't when the players all turned their back and told him to shoot it like a Make a wish foundation recipient. He still looked like he wanted to pass it off until they basically forced him to... I can't see them doing that in the regular season!

His stroke did look good though. Already looks better than Giannis and Lonzo do shooting from 3. If only he had their lack of conscience!
