Really impressed with Cleveland's rookie Garland. Plays with some awesome pace n fluidity for such a young dude. First I'd seen him.

Giannis' signature shoe selling the way it does might have something to do with this.
Hmmm, makes sense. There's definitely some bitterness in these quotes, whether it's the shoes or Giannis turning him down, or maybe both.

blazza18 wrote:"Knows how to make guys better" is really only something a select few of guys can do. Not sure AD or Giannis are on the level of Lebron or Steph in that sense.
AD instead of Giannis in that Toronto matchup would've been interesting. AD not as limited offensive. He's a little bigger and stronger too. So maybe that helps?
It's an interesting discussion as Giannis/AD are so close on a level as players, meaning that most people probably rank them right next to each other, one way or the other. But in this specific matchup/situation I think the fact that he is more of a 'ball in his hands creator/initiator' than AD is I actually think would make me think your best bet was Giannis in that Tor matchup. Now, did he accomplish that role well enough to win, No he didn't and No we didn't counter with a great offensive plan after they made their D adjustments on Giannis. But, without another guy to play that role I think the team would have fared worse. Now, swap Bledsoe/Giannis for AD/JRue then you can probably have a clearer answer and it also kind of shows the point I'm attempting to make.

Re: ATL: Training Camps are OPEN
Obviously Rich Paul is going to back his client. Just like the Rockets backed Harden over Giannis for MVP.
It's a non-story. Giannis had a better season than either one of them last year. He's the face of the league right now after winning MVP. Of course he's going to be the comparison point.
It's not worth getting upset about. Move on.

Would have been nice if Rich Paul’s client on the Bucks showed up during the ECF.

Yeah, Paul boosting AD is hardly a revelation. I’d much rather Giannis but that’s prob my Bucks bias showing through. Both great players but Giannis wins in beast mode rating. I think he’s tougher and a fiercer competitor. AD feels like a bit of a front runner.

You don't get drafted #5 after not being the highest recruit coming in, playing for Vanderbilt and going down after 5 games for nothing. He's showed serious skill to get him to #5 and without injury may or may not have had a case for the #1 pick.

If Ayton can translate those numbers to the regular season he might be a 6th man of the year candidate.

Taking injuries out of the equation, is it possible that the Bucks could take a step back and win fewer than 50 games this year? Just thinking back to the hype of post 2001 where the Bucks were coming off a season where they were a game away from the finals, then started off the season 9-1, and then only won 41 games and missed the playoffs.
I'm seeing absolutely no one predicting fewer than 50. We went 18 years without winning 50 games until last season, and now it's automatically assumed we'll do so again.
To me it seems automatic that they'll win 50+, but a part of me wonders if we're taking it for granted and forgetting how hard it was to get over that hump. Giannis had a great 17-18 season, but they only won 44 (albeit Kidd/Prunty were coaching). Idk, just a thought.

Only way I can see us not hitting 50 is if Giannis gets injured. The East is too weak.

The crowd went ****ing nuts. It was almost disrespectful to Ben but I'm sure he's hyped. It was an end of quarter "why not" type of shot. 100% different than in game, not as time is expiring, against NBA talent in my opinion but it at least showed he can hit it.

Nah better suited as a perimeter defender and letting Embiid handle giannis. What’s a Stanford Steve?
