Lakers' NBA Cares Event In Shanghai Canceled

The Los Angeles Lakers' NBA Cares event in Shaghai was canceled hours before it was set to begin on Wednesday.

The NBA said that the cancellation was not their call, adding another layer to the controversy stemming from Daryl Morey's tweet supporting Hong Kong protesters.

The Lakers and the Nets are set to play in China on Thursday. Adam Silver is expected to address both teams on Wednesday.

Regardless of this unfortunate setback. We will continue to represent world peace. That is the Laker way. Hopefully other teams can rise up that same level.

The only good thing coming out of this is the example set by the Chinese government on what an oppressive communist/socialist (same thing) government looks like.

This is a dumb comment. Well, poorly worded if you think communist/socialist is the same thing.

But I agree with your general point, that it's good that they are exposing the censorship of the Chinese government. Censorship occurs in democracies too via corruption (see Trump calling private companies that do diligent reporting "fake news" - What do you think is the exact reason he's doing that? You're a republican so you won't agree, but it's oppression (and suppression) of opposing viewpoints)

Morey shouldn't have apologized. Maybe he shouldn't have said it in the first place, but hey take accountability for it.
