ESPN senior news director Chuck Salituro sent a memo to shows mandating that any discussion of the Daryl Morey story avoid any political discussions about China and Hong Kong.

The memo was obtained by Deadspin.

ESPN has attempted to pivot away from discussions about political issues since Jimmy Pitaro replaced John Skipper.

ESPN agreed to substantial deal with Tencent in 2016.
