I’m surprised they kicked them out. Is that typical for any protest signs? Like if someone bought a ticket to an NBA game and sat there with an anti-abortion sign or something like that, would they be asked to leave? I’m not sure. If it’s not policy to kick out people w/ signs that aren’t NBA related, it’s wrong.

You'd have to be naive to believe a European power willingly gave up that much wealth for moral reasons.

Do you blame this on European colonialism as well?

no, I blame euro colonialism on what's happening in Palestine, Syria, Libya, Afghanistan, Iraq, Yemen, Sudan, Somalia and half of South America tho

Ok but are you giving China a pass there on what they are doing just because they are not European?

I do think China's response to the HK protestors does have some after effects of being screwed over by Europeans in the past but I can't think of any remote justification to what they are doing to the Uyghurs and that story should be the one dominating the news.

some companies have factories in china... no wonder they need to be on their knees for china... but NBA is the product on american soil. its one and only. cant be replaced. cant be replaced with cheap labor in different country. i get there are nba products that are made in china and also TV rights but nba has the power to not act like some bullied nerd who cant stand for himself... no, they have power to say F you... make your own league if you are butthurt. oh, you already have your own league? but you are still crazy for nba? nuff said.
if any carefully constructed answer (to not trigger chinese snowflakes) the league gives, ends in even more boycott from china, then the only possible and logical answer should be beforementioned "F you"

You know who should like the current development of all... it should be Trump... Morey really did him a big favor... Now I question his motives

You have good points that the NBA has a lot more power and autonomy than the vast majority of companies w/ pre-existing China partnerships. Probably the biggest issue would be shoes and jerseys being made there, but honestly China would probably lose a lot of money if that was pulled and manufactured elsewhere from now on as well.

If you read the thread from the start Clyde was actually the first person mentioning the Uyghurs here... There's tons I can and have said about Clyde but not that he is giving anyone a pass for genocide.

If you ask me Morey is done/finished. There's no coming back from this. Maybe they relieve him of his duties in private but still pay him while the guy next in line handles the day to day operations or something of that nature. Yesterday on NBA Sirius XM, during one of the shows, they said that each team could potentially lose $200-400 million in value because of this China situation. So I don't think its just the CCP that is pissed and wants Morey gone.

Why would Trump like this? Cause it makes the NBA players who have criticized him look hypocritical? If that’s why, I think that’s a very small thing in the scope of a much bigger picture - but maybe you mean something else.

Jason Whitlock in this clip does give why he thinks the NBA is acting like this(please forget about the host of the show as I only posted this because of what Whitlock said):

He believes Nike and the shoe companies are why its so difficult for the NBA to take strong action against China

Let us not be hypocritical about it just cause it is China

But HK is not protesting for independence. They are protesting for Universal Suffrage and against Police Brutality. They want to become California, part of the USA, but a self governed state.

It is CCP that put out "HK Independence" as their defensive argument.

yeah yeah, just like those rioters are never violent, never did occupied airport and never threw firebombs at police. I guess people will always want to see and believe what they want.

Yeah, Yeah, the dirty cops did not use live bullet, no one were beaten to the point of brain hemorrhage,
the taxi driver did not drive straight into a group of protesters, 8964 never happen, every minority in China suddenly speak perfect Chinese, cultural revolution completely change China into a communist state and Great Leap Forward was a great success and did not caused a famine.

I guess CCP will always want people to see and believe what they want.

Nike and Adidas already moved to Vietnam right? Or most of their manufacturing at least.

If we're talking sales, that's a big market, no doubt

So basically the NBA got themselves too entrenched into the Chinese pockets and now they can't get out. They're willing to sell their souls, that's just great.

Agreed. That is just stupid and borderlining on racist imo. Minus points for the Sixers organization, just plain stupidity and selling out. The NBA is all over the map with this, very disappointing.

Do you support Americans having a voice or not? Or only on certain issues that suits your stance? Disgusting.

It's all about a GM not being smart and losing money and business opportunities for his owner and franchise. He is free to talk about his political views and opinion in private. But when he took it to Twitter where companies and up to the US president use to broadcast official views and statements, it is just a bad business decision.

They are playing with a Chinese team (Guangzhou Loong Lions). What about respecting your foreign guests and make them feel welcomed in your arena? That's not something American do anymore?

Fire on the trade war, unify voices against China, is that enough?

A friendly reminder: China appealed for "freedom of speech" regarding the Hong Kong issue after Twitter took down troll Chinese
account sometime in August and Sep:

Americans: China absolutely overreacted over Daryl Morey's tweet.
Also Americans: Going **** over unsubstantiated allegations about "Russian meddling" in the US elections.
