West is super deep can't see Suns move up more than one spot from last year. Going to be another season of missed playoffs. We might win 5 more games this year but only move up one spot. In the East, we'd be closer to the 8th seed but not here.

Interesting....typically people predict too many wins and it doesn't balance. But assuming you mean 49 losses for the Wizards, you are at 1209 wins and 1265 losses, so you need to add 28 wins and take away 28 losses to balance.

So I can go through exercise I put in spreadsheet to make sure wins and losses balance so I will take a stab later.

Interesting you think Lowry, Gasol and Sikiam can take raptors to that record?

The benefits of being in the eastern conference!

I think it's more than that. I think Fred VanVleet is REALLY good, but I think Siakam is ready to take an even bigger leap. Be their best player and become a Kawhi type player over the next couple years.

Then they still have Serge Ibaka. OG Anunoby could be good too, especially on defense. RHJ had a bad year last year but he is a solid defender as well.

Norman Powell is also pretty solid..shot 40% from 3 last year.

They are just elite defensively and have hard nosed players and pretty good shooting. They have 4 guys who 37% or better from 3, and then Lowry who was close to 35% on high volume. Then 3 others over 32%.

Nets winning 50 is a stretch. Matching 42 wins from last season seems more likely.

And Bucks IDK, Brogdon was a loss and several of their role players are post-prime (although personally I’m rooting for 70 wins). I see about 55 wins in part from Giannis getting more days off

Nets were tough. I just think they have great coaching and more depth and it willd depend on health. I really like LeVert, and if he can stay healthy he can be their second best player this year, and then Dinwiddie, particularly as a backup or even to play with Kyrie (though defense would hurt) but then Joe Harris shooting and Kurucs getting better.

Then Jarrett Allen is good and getting better and DeAndre Jordan is nice depth, and they have better vet backups elsewhere in Garrett Temple, Taurean Prince and Wilson Chandler.

Combine all that, the upgrade from Russell to Irving and a weaker conference, and I see a big improvement. They have improved a lot every year and did quite a bit throughout last season. They may have been close to a 50 win pace the last half.

Rest of the league: somewhere between 82 games won and 82 games lost.

Suns: 0-82 and a new head coach.
SHAZAM!

Suns traded Mikal Bridges, Cam Johnson, Jae Crowder and 4 1st round picks and a swap so some Vegas Bookies would like us.

Preseason is just preseason, and you don't want to ascribe too much weight to it.

But the Lakers' starting lineup is very impressive, and I was probably wrong in my initial take. The team is a complete 180 from last year (all offense, no defense) and Vogel is building a top 3 defensive lineup. They have the iso firepower (Lebron) to get away with poor spacing. It's different from the ball movement trend the rest of the NBA is following but it's not that dissimilar to the Raptors' makeup from a year ago. I think when healthy, this team is the heavy, heavy favorite, way more than the Clippers. I don't trust AD's health completely, and never will. He's too soft to play the 5 for 82 games, and just not built for it. But if they can keep him in the 4 position, I think it would do wonder for his health. And then play him at the 5 comes playoff, and run through everyone in the playoff seeding.

Warriors are in trouble. Dlo looks as bad defensively as advertised. The guys who will determine their playoff chance are WCS and Looney. And that's a scary position to be in.

Blazers are a bubble team. Ever year, people predict they will regress and I think this might be the year. Lots of turnover in the starting lineup and who know which Whiteside will show up. That dude's mood changes like the weather.

The Suns are an enigma. They have the talent to be in the bottom rung of the playoff seeding, but so many question marks. The team weakest defensive link are the 2 (Booker) and the 4 (Saric/Kaminsky). And not surprising the two losses are against teams who have talents and depth at those positions. We did okay against the Twolves because they don't have the offensive depth to attack Booker/Saric. I don't think you can field a winning team that will be bad defensive in the perimeter with 2 subpar defensive players. But if Monty can get Booker to be passable, I think this team can surprise people and sneak into the playoff. But this is the Suns, who knows what will happen.

Return to Phoenix Suns
