SF is a big problem for us
OG is not the guy and RhJ and Stanley Johnson are like the same player. I see Pascal playing a lot at SF. Norm too. Both playing out of position.
Like if we compared it to our playoff run how we only played 8 players...I'd go with Lowry, FVV, Powell, Pascal, Gasol, Ibaka, Davis, thomas with a little OG and RHJ off the bench
stanley needs to go.

Honestly, I think it's pretty clear that the ending lineups will most likely be either a combination of
Lowry
FVV
Powell
Siakam
Gasol
or
Lowry
FVV
Siakam
Ibaka
Gasol.
I think SF is an issue to begin the games. One of either OG/Stanley has to take the role but neither seems talented enough to do it. Thomas is soft and weak to be the SF

We will get tired if we play without a sf all year. Come playoff time we will probably only go 7 deep, maybe 8. The season is long tho. we need guys to step up
I feel like what will happen is on the bench until FVV and ibaka will take the majority of the shots...RHJ and stanley will just defend and get out of the way.
Knowing Fvv's game, it's probably Mu's mindset..

Nothing to see here..."SF is a big problem for us" has been on ongoing theme for 14 of the last 15 years.

There are going to be options out there.
I'm not too worried, we can just throw money at that.

Lol the craziest part is that...the one season we actually had a real SF....he happened to be the best in the game

Yeah that Kawhi guy leaving will definitely take a big hit on the SF position.
Stanley Johnson has been very underwhelming in preseason, I expect him to fall out of the rotation if he doesn't show any promise. RHJ is more of a backup 4.

Re: SF is a big problem for us
OG is the perfect starting SF for the projected lineup. He would be the 5th option on the court and would largely be responsible for strong D and hitting open looks.
What you don't want is him as a primary ballhandler or top option, which is what the team hopes he grows into and why they are putting him in those spots. Whether he gets there, who knows.

Re: SF is a big problem for us
Might not be the most popular opinion, but I would still shoot for a guy like Ingram. Maybe a little offense-defense swap with NO around OG and BI? I have faith in the Raps' player development team and I think Masai can get Ingram to shape up like he did with a young Lowry.

The forward spots are so interchangeable these days. Siakam can and will play minutes at the SF spot this season. I predict he'll even start at that position.

Re: SF is a big problem for us
If OG continues to be a liability on offense, I am open to trying Malcolm Miller. Masai seems high on the guy (kept him around even though he was injured last season). Can hit the 3 and also play some defense. Maybe he can be a bigger but less polished Danny Green. Miller has been on our development program for a while now too, so let's see what he's got.

I believe the majority of the scoring will come from Pascal, Norm, whoever we play at C and Kyle. If OG isn't scoring 20 points every game we will still be ok...but he does fill a role. I still believe though that he will score 12ish ppg this season...as he gets better passes around him and as he is allowed to get used to playing with the starters.

Remember when Joe Johnson used to kill us because we didn’t have anyone strong as him in his position? lol

Re: SF is a big problem for us
OG will be starting and fits well with them if he can hit his shots. His perimeter defense would be the best in that starting unit and they could use his size guarding wing players. He'll have his shot. He just needs to be a good 3&D player. Obviously Nurse will allow him to experiment with his playmaking and let him try to create for others which is part of the development this season. We'll find out what he is when he gets minutes this year.

Exactly this - the lowest scoring starter from last year was Danny Green and he averaged just over 10ppg. Freddy started a bunch of games too and he averaged 11.
People are overestimating the need (or even desire) for offence out of OG and neglecting the value he brings to the wing spot as a defender.
Offence is a zero-sum game. Adding one of these higher-usage players being suggested just takes shots away elsewhere, it doesn't necessarily produce more offence.

OG's value is pretty low now. teams are probably calling to see if they can get him cheap but Masai/Bobby isn't trading him ... yet

OG will start and provide top defense and spot up shooting. His offensive game seems to be limited. Disappointed in his handles and creativity. Wonder what he even worked on in the off season. There's no other option at SF.

Re: SF is a big problem for us
Our problem is that on a certain percentage of possessions, your first couple of options are covered, so you're left with 10sec left on the shot clock and have to just give the ball to a guy and clear out. And who is going to get the ball in those situations? Pascal? You need more that one capable guy, otherwise the defence already knows who to collapse on with 10sec left. And from what I see, Norm and OG are going to struggle in that role. Their dribble drives are too obvious, with no counters.
