I have gone on record saying I hope Juancho wins the spot, just don't see it yet. And you claim he's "the 1 guy who has PROVEN to bring exactly what we need at SF" but I have seen he's proven nothing yet, wish he did/does. And I called him trade fodder as I haven't seen what I need from him for 3 1/2 years yet I think he is probably the most tradable or will leave. Let's be honest, MPJ isn't getting traded, Barton would have been traded already if he could've, Craig doesn't hold any true trade value which leave Juancho. And you're giving him leeway for re-adjusting to NBA rules from FIBA, praising his D (which I thought he was OK as well) even when he's been playing D against NBA level talent for a the last 6-8 weeks. But then jump on MPJ who played his first game in 3 years seems a bit hypercritical when he's realistically a lost rookie.
I'd LOVE for it to be (eventually) MPJ, Juancho and Craig...that's seems optimal to me but I need to get some value from a Barton trade so we can pay Juancho a reasonable salary PLUS Juancho to validate it w/o injuries for 1 whole season at least.
Not disagreeing a lot, but that's my belief. Unless Juancho either resigns for dirt-cheap I don't see him getting a new contract so might as well get something for him.
Juancho had 1 injury, yes it affected him the entire season last year, but prior to that it was mono. That is kissing the wrong person, or sharing a drink with the wrong person.
When healthy Juancho was very good as a rookie and very good last year prior to his injury. Even injured last year Juancho was still a positive on defense and put up above average outside shooting. That is literally all we need at SF right now. An average player that the defense has to watch on one end, and will work his ass off on defense (even with the occasional mistake).
I agree that MPJ is not getting traded, but I think you are wrong on Craig and Barton both.
Craig has value, a defensive specialist that makes $2 million per year has a lot of value around the league. Plenty of teams would love to have him as their 7th/8th man. Now is that worth a 1st or 2 2nds? I would think he could bring back a couple of 2nd round picks. The issue is that we need him if we want to improve this year, he just needs limited minutes. 10-12 minutes a game to slow down teams with 2 good offensive perimeter players is exactly how he should be used and works great considering how bad Beasley, Murray, were last year and MPJ is likely to be this year.
Barton I truly think they have not considered trading. They spent all summer talking about how Barton and Harris being healthy was all we needed to take the next step if Murray was less streaky. Now I have heard a couple of times that they do not think he is fully healthy and that someone was hiding the affect of the injury, so now he may not have any value, but he did at the end of the season.
There is only 1 guy around the league that can start at SF for us, and he has made a couple of comments about how much he loved Denver. They also seem to be the only team that wants to stay decent, but are not expecting to sign big names any time soon. Money is going to be at a premium this year with the China mess, so what does it take to get him? Also will Stan step up and pay the tax?
I see the only way it working is to trade Plumlee with Barton, but with Gallo's expiring contract and Barton's bad deal it is going to take some maneuvering to make it work. I'm not trading Murray, Harris, Beasley, MPJ, or Morris for him. They don't need a Center unless they move Adams, and they will likely not care about Barton. You also have to get a backup Center for Plumlee. So are you going to take Roberson in the deal? Adams? Be the 3rd team on the Paul trade and take back a bad deal with Gallo? It is hard to make the money work, and it will likely put us into the tax next year.
