DuFour, Dakhil and Vecenie aren't confident in the Bucks at all on their Nerder She Wrote on Back To Back podcast for The Athletic. They think Brogdon was a big loss (was their only secondary playmaker according to them), they don't trust George Hill to be a consistent contributor, don't trust Bledsoe or Middleton to be secondary playmakers.

I, myself, don't trust George Hill to be a consistent contributor (which is why I would have let him walk). Between his age, his shooting last season, and his health, there's just too much noise. Donte being able to hold down that spot would be a MASSIVE boon for us.

I don't blame anyone for not trusting Bledsoe come playoff time to be a secondary playmaker, but it brings up a weird point that doesn't seem to ever be addressed when it comes to other contending teams, i.e. what everyone seems to define as an upper tier/elite "playmaker". I mean, the Clippers might have the most top-to-bottom talent in the league, yet PG and Kawhi are elite defenders and scorers, not elite play-makers. Lou Williams ironically is probably that team's best playmaker and he comes off the bench. The Sixers have, what, 3 total above-average play-makers in their entire Top-8 rotation in Simmons, Horford, and Embiid? I'd take a trio of Giannis/Middleton/Bledsoe over most other teams in regards to passing/play-making ability. It's just a weird criticism to have.

Wish I could take credit for it, because this is 79 on the atomic chart.

I'm still resentful that my Wu-inspired nicknames for Bucks never found a foothold. Thought Ghostface Przybilla and The Wallaby Champ could find purchase, but the internet was less hospitable than I anticipated.

I mean I definitely agree that this team could use another playmaker in the second unit and I'm not sold on Middleton myself. It's fine to raise these questions but this Bucks team has way fewer question marks than any of the mentioned teams.
Another thing we should attempt to do is consilidate. We just saw in the off-season that desired players are favouring us on exceptions over many other teams. That means the value of an open roster spot for the Bucks is way higher than the median around the league. We should definitely look for opportunities to turn five quarters into a dollar.

That Frank Mason 2 way might come in handy early

2-3 weeks is just fine. Most rib injuries, as I understand are like 6.

If we are burying stuff in the generic Bucks thread, can we change the title? This is kind of big news considering he may miss the Rockets game and has played good D against Harden.

"Playmaker" is such an ambiguous term that it can just be arbitrarily used to fit someone's argument. It's definitely a weird criticism to have of this Bucks team.

RS Bled is one of the league's best secondary playmakers imo, and we just need that translated to the postseason. Which I still naively believe can happen..

Would think it'll take a week or two to get his wind back once he feels ok playing. Would rather he just rest for a month, seems like with the way he plays the re-injury risk would be a little higher than for most guys.

Who do the Bucks cut to keep Frank Mason III? They can't cut Dragan cuz he's got too much potential, and they can't cut Thanasis cuz Giannis would be pissed. I don't see them cutting DJ Wilson, but he seems like the only reasonable choice, and I think he's shown flashes, especially the way he rebounds. I like Mason, but I don't know how he makes the final cutdown.

They don't have to cut anyone. Mason is on a two-way contract.

We should trade for Ntilikina before the Knicks decline his TO imo.

Don't think they will cut anyone. Thanis should be cut but yeh not going to happen. Frank will stay on as a 2-way.

Roster should look like this without Thanis

Bledsoe/Hill/Mason
Wes/Donte/Sterling
Midds/Patty/Korver
Giannis/Ersan/DJ
Lopez/Lopez/Bender

Return to Milwaukee Bucks
