Fell asleep on the couch with it tied and Chapman still on the mound. When I woke up we had lost. Tough loss man. You don’t want to burn so much of your bullpen in a loss like that. But ironically it may have been Boone’s conservative use of Green that was most costly. The big disappointment was Paxton though. Boone did right thing taking Paxton out when he did but Paxton needed to get us to 5th at least.

Ottavino giving up that meatball homerun was frustrating as heck too.

I just turned off the tv as I heard the home run in the back ground Bc I couldn’t I watch Bc I know Happ couldn’t be trusted. Micromanaging caught up to Boone...

Now somehow we have to defeat Cole...

Eh, I thought Boone did a good job. He got us a lot of good innings after Paxton tried to give the game away. I'm really tired of these Sonny Gray types.

What genius at the MLB thought it would be smart to start the pivotal game 3 in Yankee stadium with the two best teams in baseball and start the game at 4 and not prime time. Half the people wanting to watch the game will be commuting home.

What a freaking blunder by the MLB. This is the matchup of the two best teams everyone wants with the potential CY candidate on the mound in the crazy Yankee stadium atmosphere and it’s on at 4 on a weekday...what a blunder!

And that's Eastern time.

Everybody else will likely miss most of game because it starts at 3 (for me), 2 (Mountain), and 1 (Pacific).

That's moronic.

Yea that's idiotic, excuse my language but what the heck. I got so lucky I'm working midnight on Tuesday so I get to watch it but that doesn't make any sense.

To be fair if it ended at 1AM the "baseball is killing the sport kids can't watch" crowd would show up in full force. But I feel the pain for the adult fans that will be scrambling to try and leave work early to watch the start.

Neutral observer and so far this series has delivered. You guys are in a dog fight. These are the two best teams and so far they have lived up to the billing. The defense last night was extraordinary on both sides.

That's fair. But 5-6 pm seems like the best time. Maybe kids want to watch the game with their parents?

When I was really into baseball as a kid, I remember staying up after midnight when my teams were in the playoffs.

yea the first time my pops ever let me stay up past 9 on a school night was the FF when the Fab 5 was involved. it can be a cool parent kid bonding moment like that.

That sucked last night a huge missed opportunity, momentum is only as good as your next game team has bounced back from tough losses all year, being at home should give the team a lift. I thought Boone should have had Green pitch the 5th inning then you get it right to the meat of the pen to pitch an inning each Otto 6th inning, Kahnle 7th, Britton 8th and Chapman 9th.

Of course if Otto didnt stupidly pitch a meatball to the Astros most clutch player in Springer the move works out so I blame it most on Otto. When you play a team like the Astros there is just no margin for error. Gotta bounce back tomorrow we need 5 innings from Severino throwing zeros against Cole, Stanton has to start at DH suck it up and play for the rest of the month. Well see if there is even a game tomorrow rain is in the forecast.

Green's pitch count was around 25 or so...Boone was planning to use Green as opener in 4th game so he didn't want to over extend Green...Green's pitch count hasn't gone over 30 all year if I'm not mistaken.

They probably did this because of the democratic debate which starts at 8pm

I'm not even mad about last night - the Yankees were not the better team on the field, and while winning would have been an incredible thing I didn't feel like they had something taken from them. It would have been one of the ultimate thefts of a victory if they had pulled it out, but I didn't feel like they deserved it or something. HOU had so many chances early on and had more barreled balls turned into outs (by luck) than the Yankees.

This series is not winnable unless the Yankees can break the Astros JV/Cole serve. Until then it's basically already written that Houston advances, which is why last night was so intense to me - it was their chance to actually give themselves a shot at taking this thing, and they couldn't capitalize. Hopefully tomorrow is different!

One or two of the middle 3,4,5 games is always played in the afternoon. I’m surprised so many people didn’t expect it.

Only difference is that the game is now at 4 instead of 5pm. This really isn’t anything new. I remember being in college cutting classes to go see the playoff game. I also remember at the peak of the Yanks/Sox rivalry we still had an afternoon game or two in the alcs.
