Thybulle's looking good btw.
Will be better than seeing strange arguments about Trae vs Luka repeatedly.
Y'all are a lot more optimistic than I am. If RJ Barrett is scoring 20 ppg or Ja Morant is going for 14-5-5, then I have a bad feeling about how this thread is going to turn out.
As well as Michael Porter Jr scoring double digits on a stacked Nuggets team so we can rehash the 'Is Ben Simmons really a rookie' debate.

If Porter Jr ever lives up to that #1 or even top 5 ranking in that class he had before that season....the Nuggets are going to be crazy good. They already probably have the deepest roster in the NBA. Not sure if Bol Bol will amount to anything..if so it likely takes awhile, but him too.

Really? I've never heard this about him. I hope he doesn't accidentally miss the early morning games then

Well I hope someone makes it an argument.
Oh, don't get me wrong. I'm all for Cam Johnson shocking the world.
Played pretty well tonight. Keeps this up and he will look like a steal at 11.

Cam's shot looks good but I think he is a year or two away. Hunter on the other hand looks good to go as a starter. Being in Atl, he will not get the hype so he is going to have to be really good to make the ESPN/The Jump highlight reels.
Then again, if the Hawks can surpass their predicted win totals like they did last season that should be enough to get him some additional hype.

Trae made some noise in the second half and at least made the discussion fun. Luka and him were both in or near 20 points per game. So far it looks like Zion will be the only one in that neighborhood. Most of us are just hoping our guys average around 12 - 15 points per game by season end and make 1st team all rookie.
Last seasons draft was top heavy; this season looks like it has some depth. A deep draft is usually boring but for some teams it will pay off in the long run.

I think it's likely that Herro will be the best rookie playing for a playoff team.

"Zion is just Julius Randle with hops" well damn I didn't realize how much of an effect hops has on a player
I guess the next combine should focus solely on box jumps.

Well, Randle did get in amazing shape and improved his hops in 2017 summer and came back as a monster for 17-18 season so yeah hops effect a player so much

Re: Rookie Discussion [19/20] [part I]
Rui Hachimura double-doubled on Sunday with 10 points and 12 rebounds in 27 minutes of action vs. the Bucks.
Washington's lottery pick added three steals and one assist tonight, and he showed off his athleticism and aggression all night. The bad news is that he was a brutal 4-of-13 from the field and 1-of-8 from the line, with four turnovers. He shot 59.1% from the field and 73.9% from the line with Gonzaga last year, so this was just a preseason fluke. There's enough opportunity in DC to look at Hachimura with one of your final picks.

A 40+inch vertical impresses just about 9billion people on this planet, I assume.

Zion really does remind me of Derrick Rose in the paint.

Re: Rookie Discussion [19/20] [part I]
Was a really weird game for Rui. Everything looked good besides his shooting touch. On top of the missed free throws he was clanking a lot of easy close shots. Hope this is a complete outlier and not something that rears its ugly head every now and then.

I wanted him to fall badly to 36 so the Hornets could take him. Bigs that can move and pass the ball like him almost always find success in the league. In a few years when he's developed his body enough to play a lot of minutes he's going surprise some people.

I haven't heard anyone compare them in terms of talent or ability on the floor.
Some people have. But, you know how it is, a lot of people are jerks.![]()
You're correct though in terms of the process they're trying to follow. In terms of play style, CLP surprised me in saying they actually try to follow the Heat somewhat. Said stte that, even though they don't get up and down the court fast, the rate at which the Heat runs their sets is apparently very high. That's what they (the Hawks) want to see.
I concur with Buzz in saying the Nash-era Suns is a more apt comparison than the Warriors though.
That's pretty interesting, actually. So they're not necessarily looking to fast break, but more initiate quick sets to get mismatches, cross coverage, etc?
Never would have thought of the Heat as a high frequency half court team, but I've watched them twice in two years...!
Yeah, he hammers them on the whole 'make a decision in under x seconds' or whatever.
And yes, it surprised me to hear him describe the Heat that way. I'd be curious to hear if any Heat fans can speak on if that's how they operate. I see them often as an in-division opponent, but that never popped in my head in seeing them run offense.
