Devin Booker is getting pretty overrated these days. And LaVine is easily better than anyone #11-15 on that list.

Yeah definitely taking him above any in the 15-11 spot. He absolutely deserves to be on this list. I don’t worry about this though I mean for Zach right now I think it is better to be off the list so that chip on his shoulder keeps his focus on taking that next step. There is a chance he could move into that top 5 by the end of the season and that isn’t just homer pie in the sky. I have still seen more from Zach in his career than I have Jaylen Brown, who regressed last year. If the Bulls were a sexier team to watch Zach would have made that list.

Hopefully all of the disrespect actually gets to Lavine. So far, it seems to be.

Just in general, a lot of these young guys seem to think that everything is going to automatically fall into place for them. The last 12 months have likely been a rude awakening for a number of these guys. Hopefully they take the fact that the world thinks they are shite seriously and are out to prove themselves.

Yeah way too high for my tastes. He might look good next to Rubio this year but yeah way way too high.

Zach should be in the 8 - 10 range. Hopefully Zach can shake that reputation of being a poor defender this season. That's the only thing that keeps him from being mentioned in high regard.

At first I was thinking the writer just favors two-way guards. Then I saw Devin Booker at #5. Laughable.

Imo, Booker and LaVine are comparable players. I think Booker is a little better, but he isn't so much better that anyone should make a list of best players (top 15 SG or top 25 under 25) and not have Zach anywhere near him or even making the cut.

Media perception really is a big part of this all though.

Devin Booker is even a worse defender and he's ranked #5. -2.4 on DRPM.
Bradley Beal is also as bad as Lavine and ranked #3, -1.7 DRPM.
Lavine is -1.8 DRPM, as is Klay Thompson.

Although you did specify his "reputation" as a defender, which is 10x worse than what actual analytics say. The average fan would say Klay or Beal are incredible defensively next to Zach, but they're all the same.

Nobody watching Bulls games last season is probably the reason. I doubt it's defense, because it's not like Devin Booker defends anyone.

I would have agreed with that a year ago, but not now. I would be very surprised if he is not Top 10 this year, and maybe pretty well up that list.

Donovan Mitchell has the advantage of playing with the best defensive player in the league in Rudy Gobert, so he can afford to gamble / fall asleep a little more on defense and it won't result in his man scoring on that possession. He also has had way better supporting cast since he came to the league than Zach and basically took out OKC on his own in that first playoff series, so I get why he'd have the advantage over LaVine reputation-wise.

Booker though? Just laughable. His team has always been worse than LaVine's, consistently ending in bottom 5 every season. He also has that supermax contract which makes things even worse. I guess everyone likes to remember the 70-point scoring game he had (and his team lost btw) and he's basically absolved from everything else.

And I doubt LaVine would've complained about being double-teamed in a summer open gym.

If it was only defense and winning Booker would not be on the list eiether. He looks ready to explode so pre-season lists mean nothing now though.

I am higher on Mitchell over Booker. I think he is pretty legit that being said clearly Zach should be on this list.
