this was my point when talking to a co-worker about Trae. The kid can be a sniper if he just changed his selection and take the open looks provided by the offense. If Nash is the comp then that should be the emulation. Nash in today's climate would be ridiculous.

And going all the way back to his high school and USA days, this is the main reason (defense as well) that I have never been fully on the Trae Young train. Last year he had 1 month where he shot at least 35% from 3 (shot very well with 43%), but that's it just one month. Its not from a lack of shooting ability, its from horrible shot selection.

I do think he's a good enough shooter (especially from the line) that he is never going to be horrific from an efficiency stand point. But with his turnovers, shot selection and defense, ya that stuff prevents me from buying into him going to be a star one day.

Teams have not adjusted to Trae. That is a pipe dream a lot of eastern conference fans are hoping for. The Hawks have 6 returning players from the start of last seasons roster: Young, Collins, Huerter, Len, Bembry, and Carter. Trae has played more minutes with any of three rookies than two of his remaining starters in Len and Huerter. The sky is not falling and Trae Young will be fine.

You cherry picked .350 and that excluded four other months of .340, .347, .337, .337 to go along with the .437. His 2018/19 season total assist to turnover ratio was better than 2 to 1 ( 653 assist to 308 turnovers ). For a high usage rookie and primary ball handler that is outstanding. I don't know what to say to this Trae is a bust kind of talk other than you probably tasted crow last season and you will be again this season. Trae will be an All Star and star for the Hawks for many years to come. Book it Danno.

I'm convinced that if Thybulle plays 20mpg he will lead the league in Steals.

there's a reason why Trae was ranked 429th in RPM last season...because he's not efficient enough on offense yet to make up for his atrocious defense...his offense will look good because of the cumulative points and assists he can put up quickly..but if he is to ever become a net positive player his efficiency on offense needs to improve dramatically to justify his lack presence on the other end.

7+ TOs like in this preseason is not gonna come close to cutting it.

I don't know how good his man to man defense is yet, but as a team defender you'd be hard pressed to find 5 guys as good or better than him. His talent on defense just jumps out.

I expect the advanced stats to rate him extremely high, he's kind of like a much quicker & smarter guard version of Robert Covington.

That is so clever. You should run down to Vegas and make the bet on Trae averaging 7 turnovers a game. Do it quick before someone else makes the odds go down.

Some people say the silliest Captain Obvious things here and get plus ones for it. I would bet my 401k that Trae does not have over 500 turnovers this season.

Carsen Edwards has hit 7 threes in the last 5 minutes, on 8 attempts. Dude is hitting half of them from Steph/Lillard land too.

Yeah his whole game depends on if he's hitting from deep or not, but cannot believe he fell to the second round.

I had a bet on this game going "under 218" which was looking very comfortable until he just went HAM

lmao. that is a wild issue to have at this level.

When he coached the Raptors, we'd HATE late game timeouts because we were so nervous about inbounding. It was a legit issue.

And if they managed to inbound the ball, it was inevitably the creative unexpected play of DeRozan ISO brick...

On unrelated news, really excited to see Goga Bitadze play today, him hitting threes is huge for the second unit.

He looks great, 30 now, and the Cavs are in so much trouble. No Tatum. Hayward, Walker, and Brown so far; and Boston is still up by 20 in the 3rd.

It would be a crime punishable by a lifetime NBA ban if Brad doesn't play Edwards over Wannamaker
