Hawks Preseason: 2019 Edition

Complete game - yes for the most part, still had a few too many empty possessions

Limit TOs - check, 11 TOs, 23 assists. ZERO for Trae

Play defense - much better all around, especially Trae. Vince is yelling at these guys who are out of position quite often, I'm hopeful it'll get better as the season progresses. 9 steals, 4 blocks.

3 ball  - Thanks to old man Vince, the rest not so much. 

Rookies - played well, too timid in the closing minutes, they'll learn.

Bench - Vince, Parker, Bruno and yes even Bembry missing 90 thousand bunnies, his defense and hustle was needed. He just needs to understand his hustle isn't needed on offense, just slow down a bit.

Rebound - won the battle.

Much better game. Everyone played well. Trae must've read my post and been like "damn, if my absolute biggest diehard fan is giving me crap I better wake up and pay attention!" Everything I complained about, he fixed.

I'm assuming Trae/JC and several others won't play tonight. Right? No way they play back to backs in pre-season.

This is the new NBA, I doubt we'll see either of them. Wouldn't be surprised if they aren't even in the building. If someone can guarantee me Trae plays his normal minutes I might even go to the game, at least for the first half. That could work for me, I play hockey at 9:40 tonight about 3 blocks from the United Center.

Trae Young's All-Around Game on Full Display at the Garden

Young put himself in the Rookie of the Year conversation last season because of his ability to make plays for both himself (19.1 points per game) and his teammates (8.1 assists per game).

It may just be the preseason, but he was in midseason form against the Knicks.

Young got off to a strong start, going 3-of-5 from the floor for 11 points in the opening quarter:

In 16 minutes during the first half, he recorded 12 points, five assists, two rebounds and one block. That played a key role in helping the Hawks take a seven-point lead into halftime.

Young shot 41.8 percent from the floor as a rookie last season. Thus far in the preseason, he is at 41.1 percent (16-of-37).

The Hawks will only be able to go as far as Young leads them, so he will need to knock down shots on a consistent basis. However, Atlanta has spent the offseason adding playmakers—like Hunter, Reddish and Jabari Parker—around Young, so the second-year guard's ability to create offense for others will be key.

there was no reason for Trae to be playing in that game last night. Really dumb decision IMO. Season is long enough and he played 81 last year.

At least Lloyd realized his error eventually and didn't play him in the second half.

even Bulls announcer Stacey King said he was shocked to see Trae in the lineup when the game started.
