Re: Rookie Discussion [19/20] [part I]
Pels better hope that Zion's knee soreness is nothing serious and them just being way overly cautious. Im hoping its just a "preseason injury" so they have an excuse to sit him, since there is no reason for him to play another preseason game.

Re: Rookie Discussion [19/20] [part I]
DeAndre Hunter: 9 points in 16 minutes. 50% from the field and 2 of 2 from downtown. The limited minutes and garbage lineups in preseason is so frustrating to deal with.

Re: Rookie Discussion [19/20] [part I]
Preseason is in the books for the Hawks and the rookie being counted on the most, DeAndre Hunter, did better than average. In 5 preseason games and 23.1 minutes, he average 10.2 PTS, 58.6 TS%, 50.0 FG%, 38.9 3PT%. 50.0 FT%, 2.2 Boards and 2.4 Assist. The biggest negative was his free throw shooting, which was excellent for both seasons in college. All I can surmise is a couple of bad games at the line and low volume really impacted his FT%. Hopefully that gets corrected and moves into the high 70 to 80% range.
Hunter is being counted on to replace Taurean Prince; and everything so far looks like he will do that almost seamlessly. By the end of the season, he could be better on the defensive end; which is where the Hawks need the most improvement. A long ways to go but so far it seems like grabbing Hunter as the 2nd wing, after Barrett, in the draft looks like a solid pick.

I wasn't sure if he was just an athlete or a basketball player. I think he's answered that question, looks great so far. I can't see Zion playing more than 40 games this year. If the talk of a torn meniscus is true he is out for the year, so I think White is now the favorite.

If Zion is out 1/2 the season or more this will be a crazy race. Look out for Trae Young to feed Hunter as often as reasonably possible to get his teammate a win.

If it is a Meniscus, everyone will say six weeks. I've done both knees and they are six months to be back moving freely, and never back to full health. From there it is a slow deterioration. Range of movement, pain and power will get worse each year. Everytime an athlete tears one, in any sport, I hear 6 weeks, and every time it is six months until they are back to playing at a decent level. Meniscus ruined Derrick Rose's career, this could be much worse than what will be reported.

You are right about Rose. People think it was the major one that happened early. It was all the minor ones that kept cropping up. I had one meniscus surgery in my early fifties. I was back playing golf six weeks later but it still hurts from time to time. I may have injured it again but don't feel like getting the surgery; so I am ignoring it for now.

Haha - I feel your pain, I'm now passed 40 and 6 years out from the first surgery. I'm trying to pretend I don't need another one...
Golf wouldn't be as bad, but I really feel that I lost the very little explosive power I had after the tears. I surf and do Triathlon, none of them have been impacted, but sprinting, jumping, lateral movement is all much less than before. From my experience (and I have no qualification and am no expert) once the meniscus is torn you can say goodbye to any fast twitch movement.

Golf is not as physically demanding as other sports by any stretch. It is a weird kind of pressure you put on the inside and outside of your knees with the sideways movement of the golf swing. I can feel the pain, sometimes it is sharp which is the worse but it is not lingering. I am in my 60's now, so surgery just sounds like a real downer. Maybe this winter though I will have it looked at.

Good luck mate. 60's? You've got plenty of life ahead, get it sorted out sooner rather than putting up with it for a few more decades.

Coby White with another 0 assist game. This man is not a point guard. His ceiling is a Lou Williams type scorer off the bench.

Pretty small sample size to make that kind of proclamation, but it (along with lauri looking bad) is the main topic of concern on the bulls board. Best case is probably more Billups than Williams... Coby is crafty.
Almost all his minutes have come at the 2 so far....

I mean he wasn't a great passer at all in college either. Still Lou Will is a great player.

Coby’s D has been almost as impressive as his shooting and scoring.
Who was the last 2 way gunner that could defend multiple positions?
BTW I think in time he will develop into that’s PG next to lavine that creates even more space for him and Lauri.
