Even better than before. He worked hard on his jumper and it has improved considerably. He’s looked good for the most part in preseason.

Risky move for both sides, if Dejounte can stay healthy he lost money here, if he relapses Spurs are the loser.

I know this kid gets hyped on Realgm a lot, but I'm not a fan of this contract.

1 real year of playing, incapable of shooting 3s, 2.9/1.7 ast-turn ration. Great defensive player, awful offensive player.

Couple this with the fact hes coming off a major injury. I have no idea how he was worth 16 million per year.

Always liked him, hope he proves me wrong and becomes somewhat of an offensive threat.

He's been hitting three pointers and jump shots at a solid rate so far in preseason. It looks like he really has put in the work to improve his game, something not all players do. Considering Brown's deal, this is an absolute bargain

His jumper has improved significantly that won’t be an issue for him anymore

I'm very confused as to why people think the Spurs are falling out of the playoffs. Murray/White may be the best defensive backcourt in the league and Walker looked like the best prospect in summer league imo. I have them as the sixth seed, particularly if they could get some forward help in exchange for DeRozan (although it looks like they'll extend him).

Looks like he didn't sign an extension and will become a FA if he opts out after this year. Can't see these Spurs signing him to a max deal and I'm sure some desperate team will offer it

I can see your point of view and understand your doubts about if he can develop a solid offensive game.

But i'd like you to try and imagine watching Patty Mills,Bryn Forbes,DeMar DeRozan and Marco Belinelli "trying" to play perimeter defense for a whole season. :(

Do you still think $16M per is too much for a 23 year old who by all reports has a high work rate and All NBA Defense ability?

Not every team has the chance to draft a De'Aaron Fox when they are drafting in the 20-30 range.

(And even under that prism, when Fox gets paid $32M per in 2 years time, won't that make Murray's contract a fair value?)

Nowadays 15 mil a year for a solid young player with good potential is a great deal.

DeMar's term is different. We have until June 30th to work out an extension with him if that's what both sides want.

I don’t think they’ll miss the playoffs but it’s a quick first round exit. Who is spacing the floor? Most of their top rotation guys are either poor shooters or kings of the mid range.

Great contract for him. Even if he doesn't improve much, the deal can be stomached. If he improves, which seems likely, it's all gravy. Congrats Spurs fans.

He's a special defender but I can't get on board with a point guard that is so tragic as a shooter, and really does not have any playmaking chops to speak of. Add in the injury scare and there's no way a team would want him over Jamal. I get that his contract is a concern but at least it hits while Jamal enters his prime.

That said, if anyone can figure out a way to make Dejounte a playable asset offensively, it's San Antonio. I just have my concerns that he can be a net negative in the playoffs against certain matchups (teams that don't rely on dominant guard play like the Lakers, Bucks, Sixers, Mavs, etc). But he's definitely a pest defensively against the rest.

It’s almost like the spurs staff isn’t known to improve a players jump shot  and it’s already paid off with him
