The ROY race just became wide open- will be interesting to see where the betting odds go. 10 different players could win it.

The unique doubt is how many games are needed to qualify for the ROY, 50-52?

Hunter is not much more advanced. He was a super high floor prospect coming out of Virginia but his offensive game is nothing much other than the elite 3 and D. Hunter is a so so pick at number 4 since he might be a starter from day 1 but I dont see all star PG13 ceiling. In fact, Reddish might have a higher ceiling since he can do a lot more.
Hawks simply gave too much assets trading away 3 firsts and an early 2nd for a propsect not close to the level of Doncic or even Young.

Virginia did not ask any of their players to play ISO ball and pick and rolls are a foreign language in their offensive system. Watch the highlights and watch Hunter drive to the basket, score, and pass to open players. Watch him pump fake, reset, and shoot. Coach Pierce even said in a interview their plan was to develop his ball handling skills and he was surprised that they did not need as much developing as he thought. If you listen, one of the broadcasters, Doris Burke even mentions his driving ability as being a big surprise.

Hunter is built like a tank already and has a 7'2" wing span. He is going to be a beast. Cam's upside is great but he is more of a 2/3 and Hunter is more of a 3/4. Cam did play some point guard in High School. You are entitled to your opinion and one us will be wrong.

The 2020 1st round pick you are so worried about is the Cavs. It is top 10 protected and turns into two 2nd round picks if not conveyed. Something tells me the Cavs will be picking in the top 10; probably the top 5. When you are playing with house money, sometimes you need to go all in.

Well they did give up what turned into Hayes, Naw and Didi. All three of those guys are showing out with exceptional potential and Naw is looking like he might have star potential. So I guess this trade really worked out for both teams. Really risky for Atlanta but they got their guy and who knows maybe he does end up being Kawhi 2.0. I don’t think there’s gonna be a better rookie this year than Naw other than Zion though. He just looks amazing.

They did give up a lot but its summer league and preseason. By the end of December we will have a decent feel for who is the best rookies in this class. And that does not always translate.

De'Aaron Fox and John Collins are two recent examples I can think who were not great rookies but blew up in their 2nd year.

I think Ja has this in a bag right now. While it's not clear slam dunk like Zion. I can only see few guys capable here at least making it a threat. It's Barrett and maybe Coby.

Ja and Barrett will likely receive ample minutes from their respective teams, so though their teams may struggle with wins, their state line will look interesting.

Someone like Coby who will predominately be stuck in a bench role, simply won't be getting the consistent minutes to contend for ROY in my opinion, though I do think he will have a strong season.

Zion could probably play just 30 games and still win ROTY.

Still no Michael Porter Jr? Really?

He performs quite well in the preseason and still healthy and looking strong in his recent Nuggets training videos.

Denver is too stacked for MPJ to get the minutes to win it. I think he is going to post strong ppg-per-mpg numbers, but it wont be enough. I expect 8-10ppg in 18 or so mpg.

Should be either Ja or RJ, but I like NAW as a runner up.

I just changed my vote to Hunter. I liked his chances as a dark horse before Zion's injury woes. After that and preseason, he is my favorite now.

So if NO decides to hold out Zion for the season - he becomes eligible for ROY next season? despite playing pre-season games and everything else? that would be absurd.

Herro is pretty good. I have watched him and he is a very nice player. He has a nice step back jumper with unlimited range and is a sneaky athletic with a pretty good vision.

That was a very good find by Miami Heat.

I think it depends on the competition. Brandon Roy won playing only 57 games but his competition was Adam Morrison and Andrea Bargnani. Likewise, Embiid almost won the award playing only 31 games just because the competition was so weak. I don't think this rookie class is that bad but if everyone under performs and Zion really shines, i think he should win even if he only plays 50 games.

Terrence Davis has a good showing. Looks likes he's gonna be in the rotation already. Steal for an undrafted player

My boy Nicolò Melli, aka the good Bargnani, had a decent opening game.
