So everyone is basically still the height they were listed at when they are wearing shoes. Except Isaac who is now 7'0" in shoes.

If you subscribe to the commonly accepted “shoes add one inch” idea, then Isaac is actually two inches taller than his barefoot height last year (6’10 last year in shoes is 6’9 barefoot).

Fournier and Birch are one inch taller than their barefoot heights.

Everyone else is the same height barefoot that they were last year.

Finally it came out!!!

Wow fourney is taller than expected. So he is 6'8 maybe 6'9 in shoes? Except for Agustine we might have one of the tallest starting 5 in the league.

His college height was everywhere 6'4, even at the Huskies site. Only draft express had it 6'5 for whatever reason.
The Birch height is strange. He doesn't look 6'9 barefoot at all & was 6,'7 5 at the combine. Would be almost 6'11 in shoes, no way

The weights in this list are not accurate suggesting this is not the official release of height. These actually look like last year's media day stats (there was a lot of discussion this time last year that Isaac went from 6'10 to 6'11, and was 205. He is clearly more than 205 now).

they won't make official weights as it goes up and down through a season
In general guys who are skinny and bulk probably lose 6-12 pounds through a year and fat ones who lose weight, gain some i assume

For what it’s worth, the NBA came out and said weight was not required to be checked as part of the new standardized height rule.

Isaac was listed at 6’10” in last year’s media guide.

https://www.nba.com/resources/static/team/v2/magic/Orlando_Magic_2018_2019_media_guide_30_link.pdf

Still listed at 6’10” in this year’s media guide which was released on October 4th.

https://www.nba.com/resources/static/team/v2/magic/MagicMediaGuide_201920_20191004.pdf

But enough of those NBA.com measurements are down one inch to lead me to believe that the heights are the legitimate heights.

I don’t want to argue with you too much, but the season begins tonight and the official league website just posted the roster. You pretty much expect the vast majority of players on your roster to lose an inch when you’re measuring barefoot and that’s what happened with the 10 of 13 Magic players.

The only slightly weird one is Isaac.

I'm sure Denton will have an article today about Isaac's new found height.

Yea are the new ones for sure but rounded half a inch like Bostons & co. Are not last years & not combines. Isaac isnt really weird. His old measurement where his college height, he wasnt at the combine & he looked last year already as tall as Vuc.
Only weird is Birch. He was 6'7'50 at the combine as a 22 year old & 6'9 in shoes. No way he is 6'9 barefoot now

I don't it matters all that much if you are "big" if you are 6'10 or 6'11 .
I think it's more of a issue with guards. Being 5'10 and 6'1 simply isn't same

Jameer Nelson was a very, very short 6-footer. Most have him around 5'10" but I think that was generous.

Here he is looking 2 inches taller than Robinson:

So that could have Nelson in the 5'9" range.

For guards I think the wingspan counts a lot, if you are 5'10 or 6'1, what really matters is your wingspan and weight. See Gary Payton, DPOY, only 1.93cm (probably even less), but his wingspan was 2.03!

I wouldn't say it's weird, he is young, so it's expected to grow some inches.

As for Fournier, probably he was measured in Europe and Birch in Canada/Europe, and I think they do this kind of measurement barefoot worldwide.

Vucevic, on the other side, played in NCAA and not professionally in Europe, so he was measured with shoes.

As long as teams are handling this, I'm still going to be skeptical. It's clear they are rounding up. The vast majority of people have fully matured before the age of 18, so I'd be very skeptical of the listed number for anyone if it deviates significantly from their combine measurement (Birch).

I also don't think these numbers really mean much in the grand scheme. 1 inch here and there really doesn't impact play as much as we like to think it does.

The general accepted rule is players get rounded up an inch if they’re X foot, X 1/2 inches and only get rounded down an inch they’re X foot, X 1/4 inches.

So hypothetically someone 6’8 1/2 barefoot would be rounded up to 6’9” and then in shoes would be listed at 6’10” in NBA media guides under the old “measuring them in shoes” style.

But someone 6’8” 1/4 would be rounded down to 6’8” and only jump to 6’9” in shoes.

So a 1/4th of an inch in actual height becomes a full inch difference in listed height.
