Standings Prediction Contest 2019-2020

Post#1 » by Chris Porter's Hair » Wed Oct 23, 2019 6:09 am

Better late than never. You can find the game here:

http://carpediemjuggling.com/dave/warriors/prediction

Since it is so late, I've configured it to allow predictions until 11/1.

Enter your predictions for each conference by dragging the teams into your preferred order. Scoring is determined by finding the difference between your prediction and the actual standings for each team, and summing them up. Naturally, lowest score wins.

If you don't remember your login information, let me know and I can try to help.

Best of luck...

Scoring example:
You predict:
1. Harlem Globetrotters
2. Golden State Warriors
3. Washington Generals

Actual standings:
1. Golden State Warriors
2. Harlem Globetrotters
3. Washington Generals

You score 1 point for being off by 1 on the Warriors, 1 point for being off by 1 on the Globetrotters, and 0 points for getting the Generals exactly right, for a total of 2 points.

I feel like this year the eastern conference is the easiest thing to pick ever and the western conference is super difficult.

there's something wrong with the western conference one. It shows GSW leading the conference and the Lakers in 10th.

Most years it turns out something changed so that my job that updates the standings is broken. Probably true again this year. I'll try to look into it.

I thought this was a record prediction thread lol but I'll share anyway. I actually am hoping they make the playoffs. I don't think people give enough credit for how good Curry is, and how bad the bottom of the West is. If Curry misses 20 more games and the Warriors are 15-39, that's still 28 games left where a .450 record may make you the playoffs. They'd need to go 17-11 to get that, which with Steph back in action isn't the end of the world.

I know it's healthy not to get one's hopes up, and if Stephs misses more than 20 games or the bottom of the West rounds out and someone wins 50% of games, I mean yeah that's what's supposed to happen. But heck if any team can rise from the bottom and make people doubt how reality is supposed to work, it's whatever team Curry is on.

oh ****, I have Memphis as the 15 seed

I'm killing it in the east tho! If it weren't for Philly being a trainwreck it'd be a landslide yo

If Warriors can get past the Jazz....they could legitimately end up 12 - 6 with Knicks and Wovles back to back after that....

I'll take 11- 7 :)
