The Barnes contract has nothing more than any other contract being signed in the NBA when it comes to Buddy. He has said pay him what HE is worth, and the contracts being handed out to players at this current time tend to agree with him.
Again, the Barnes contract isn’t “the” problem.
So according to you if Barnes didn’t sign or the Kings didn’t offer him the contract Buddy would sign for 4/90? 4/80?
You can say whatever you like about the Barnes contract, or heck you can even jump on the laughable bandwagon that the Kings won’t be able to sign Buddy and Bogs because of it, but one thing you can’t do is say the Barnes contract is the problem regarding Buddy’s negotiations. When Murray just signed for 170 and others that either arguably aren’t as good or slightly better are signing for a lot more, it’s simply the market, and right now 4/110 is unders for Buddy and the only reason he isn’t maxed is his age and perceived lower ceiling due to that.

Your analysis is much too deep for a simpleton like me.

My point was salary cap based. In order to keep Hield, the Kings must make judgments and decisions over the relative values of the core 4 or 5 players. My point was we overpaid Barnes, which 90% of the NBA analysts agree on, so that will have some impact on how much we can pay Hield. I would pay him the 4/110 but there's a limit on what he can get, and keep others happy.

Give Buddy the 4/110 and be done with it.

Why do I get the feeling negotiations will end at SactownRoyalty, BabyGiraffe article, 4/104 exactly? Players and agents read social media

If he has another 45/40/89 season again, some team will offer him big money.

Then the Kings may end up giving him a big contract anyways or else let him walk for nothing.

Wenyen called up to the regular NBA roster. Well deserved, he had a good showing this summer in SL and preseason.

Well they got it done!

If Buddy has good seasons under his contract, will there be any residual resentment when he becomes UFA?

Or maybe the Kings won't be interested in a 31-year old UFA at that point, maybe have other shooters on the roster by then.

At that point either Fox and Bagley have developed into the kind of players who are so good that the Kings are championship contenders and Buddy will gladly re-sign for good value, or they didn't and it's time to blow things up regardless.

Gotta give it up to Vlade because I shared this opinion as well.

Team will be better with Bjelica or BOgi starting, Bagley not ready to play winning ball. Will be interesting to see how the lineup remains when he gets back

Just don't agree with this continued take you share.

Meanwhile, Luka had 34 and 9 to lead his team to victory.

Bagley had a good rookie season so it quieted the doubters, because of Fox's improvement in his second year, because Doncic would have taken the ball away from Fox.

But it hasn't completely silenced the questions about choosing Bagley over Doncic.

In fact, Doncic is likely to be an all-star this year, while Fox and Bagley likely won't be. He may even come close to equaling their combined production.

Fox and Bagley may turn out to be good players but Doncic seems headed for multiple all-star berths.

Reasoning for that ?

Bjelica’s advanced stats were far superior last year which is why Joerger started him all year.

I think the FO wants to develop the future which is why Bagley began starting this year, but he looked not ready on both sides (ISO offense, young defense). Hopefully he will be in the future, but yeah, as of now IMO Bjelica > Bagley, though Bagley can improve and be better at some point, just don’t think it’s today

Bagley has a ton of potential but right now Bjelica is the more impactful player. He has a very complementary skill set and high basketball IQ. Bagley has been relying mostly on his athleticism which will only get him so far.

I'd say over 90% of us knew the moment he was drafted it was a mistake.

Board was depressed.

Looking for “baby Siakam” getting some reps with Bags out, he’s looked good in SL/Stockton etc. He plays with a confidence the other end of benchers don’t. I think he will have a career

Bagley looked pretty average in preseason and awful against the Suns. He's got tunnel vision so bad when he has the ball. I think they'll end up playing better without him for a few games, but the obviously won't work long term. Overall, that first game was terrible and not a good sign. It's only the first game, but then you look at the next 10 or so and we could easily start the year about 2-10 if we don't lock in quick. Portland, Jazz, Denver, Lakers are all on the schedule.

Reports starting to come out that Bogdan might not be happy coming off the bench. When it rains, it pours eh? What are some trade options?

I dont blame Bogi because he is good enough to find a starting job somewhere.

When I saw Bogi recently say "its not always about money with me" I took it as his way of saying he was open to a hometown discount. But, if these rumors are true what he probably meant was he would take less then what the Kings offered if he was starting.

Trade options? Im not sure Vlade is willing to move him. Unless things sour I can see Vlade holding out hope until the very end.

I don’t believe it, this is how rumors get made. McMahon and Windhorst stuttering for conversation material making inferences, and Feldman running with it with nothing better to cover or to continue the anti Kings bit

Need something more substantial for me. BOgi has been nothing but complimentary
