Definitely not marijuana, because the NBA policy for that is very light. This would have to be Aytons fifth time getting caught with that for this kind of suspension to occur.

Definitely PEDs. That’s why we saw Ayton hound Hield last night after he blocked him, that’s why Ayton had four blocks. NBA saw this, and immediately suspected PEDs, no way Suns win by close to 30 without cheating.

This made me laugh

The first violation should only be ten games not 25 games.

Yea, first violation but don't they have like X amount of times they let you 'pass' per say (internally) till a suspension occurs? Maybe it wasn't the first time this actually showed up in the tests.. hence the 25 games.

The reality is that a 25 game suspension could have a significant outcome on our placings especially when the West is loaded and so even. The reality is that the gap between 14th and 9th in the West wasn't much and this type of thing could have meant last year slipping from 9th to 14th.

Will be interesting to see how it plays out.

The only small silver lining, especially if we can get it reduced, is that our schedule was is SO brutal for the first 10 games at least, that we would have been hard pressed to win too many anyway. But it hurts when he looked so good....would love to see him go up against Jokic, Gobert, AD, Embiid, Jarrett Allen/D Jordan, etc. Lets just pray it gets rescinded.

Well I guess I could sit here and cry about the sky falling OR point out that we are well prepared for this!! Baynes is a starting center, sets better screens, and stretches the floor. Kaminsky and Diallo get more burn, Frank deserves it and Diallo needs to take advantage of the added responsibility. Saric needs to get it on track, we have many very capable bigs for the 1st time in god knows how long. We still gonna be better fellas!!

Yeah, at least both Baynes and Kaminsky can play C. Obviously Frank will hurt defensively there so it would have to be a team effort.

It just really sucks right when Ayton was looking so great defensively.

Do I have grounds to message the NBA and ask for my league pass to be refunded unless they rescind? haha

Do Suns do background checks on prospects they were about to invest their lottery picks and truckload of money in. MCD sure had the knack for drafting shady prospects with questionable mental or behavioral problems.

Ayton out hurts but realistically 25 games does he mean 2 or 3 more wins tops? I don't think it's a significant difference in the win loss column I really dont. it's not like he is a dominant player right now I think the bigger loss is just in his development

Read somewhere that the NBA changed its drug policy this year.

Earlier policy was first time offence - 10 games and second time offence - 25 games.

It's now 25 games for first offence, and 55 games for second offence.

If the way he played last night is any indication it's a pretty significant loss. But yes, in the grand scheme of the west wins were going to be hard to come by. But you still want us to be as competitive as possible and I wanted to see that chemistry develop with Ayton and others in real games.

He was the player I was most excited to see each night and see how his development went. Just a huge blow.

I can see PHX bumping along with a similar winning percentage but man, what a trip going from Ayton to Baynes and Kaminsky. You’d be hard pressed finding 3 centers with such drastically different playing styles. The change in roles will impact every player.

Ayton’s usage has to go somewhere. The bigs are popping now instead of diving. Baynes is starting even though at age 32 he’s built for maybe 15 minutes a night. Saric is likely gonna play 30 minutes and relied upon to score. Kaminsky and Oubre swing to different positions. The pressure on Cam Johnson returning and giving productive minutes is immense.

And in reality 25 games is more like 30 to 35 when factoring the number of games required to incorporate Ayton again.

But who knows? Maybe Phoenix overcomes the loss and returns on the other side better for it. There is precedent.

from the sounds of it the nbapa seem like they think they have a strong case to make and are going to push hard to have it tossed or reduced, looks like subsequent test showed no other banned substances. I think they have a good shot based on what I read so far.

Worst part is not the extra games we will lose... but the big hit to Aytons development... right when he starts playing defense...

I have been saying they will be terrible for a few months now... no way they make playoffs... which makes this Ayton news hurt even more
