The team clearly needs time to mesh and Bagley's absense will cost them a few wins.

The 0-4 start is a real handicap toward making the playoffs. I have no doubt that there will be a point in time where the team gels and they start winning. But I now fear it is going to be too late to make the playoffs.

Having said that - this team was pretty good at coming back from big deficits last year.

The Kings need to bring back the breakneck speed and passing from last year and build on it. We gotta start jumping teams with the strengths of this team i.e. speed, youth, 3PT. No more the dribble, dribble, ISOs, bad % shot stuff. We gotta live in transition and easy shots. How hard is that?

I think we're better than our record indicates. Those first five losses were brutal but now Bogdan is playing well. If he keeps this up and we can bring Fox and Bagley back into the fold we should have consistent play making all game and our defense is looking a lot better than the travesty that we witnessed to start the season.

Now, if Buddy can stop falling asleep on defense (e.g. getting backdoored) and making bone-headed turnovers half a dozen times a game that would be greaaaat.

I think it’s probably possible if Fox and Bagley insert themselves back into the lineup correctly. Move the ball like we’ve seen the last 6 games. Don’t be a ball stopper.

When a young player gets injured, it can sometimes be a blessing in disguise. The player can either come back with the same mindset or absorb the game as a spectator and learn where he should insert himself. Fox has not been very good at slowing down. He’s incredible in transition, but he’s mediocre in a half court offense (especially without the ball in his hands). He needs to watch Bogi carefully. Bogi is the smarter player and Fox is more physically gifted. If Fox can learn to be more patient with his moves and have more than one read (like Bogi is doing), then he could be the star that takes us far. I think he’s more than capable of doing this.

Bagley is more of a question mark. Nobody can deny his talent. He’s physically gifted and has nice touch (albeit on one side). He should be looking at how Holmes has found success. Pick your spots, set hard screens, and play with energy. He’s more talented and will be very successful if he just lets the game come to him (instead of forcing the issue).

@kalenclayton you are spot on. Fox forces it a lot which was leading to a bunch of turnovers. Bagley is somewhat the same. When he gets the ball he tunnel visions and tries to use his athleticism to score. The burden is on both of them to slow down and take what the defense gives them.

For Fox, that means stop trying to make so many thread-the-needle passes; splitting double teams with fancy dribbling moves; and instead simply just taking the open mid-range jumpers he routinely gets handed by the defense.

For Bagley, that means letting the offense create his opportunities for him.

They are both super young so there is a great opportunity there. What this last stretch of games has shown is we have a playoff level supporting cast. The question is whether our young guys are ready to lead us there.

IMO we’re there, on both accounts. Problem is, GMs that are past due try to win games immediately.

I don't think it's quite the time to hit the panic button just yet. We've haven't been playing well but we've been killed with injuries this year and despite our recent stretch of ugly basketball, we're still two games back from the 8 seed. Our schedule for January is light (on paper) too so if we're going to turn this season around, it will happen in this month. In 2 weeks time we should have a better idea if the season is lost or not.
