The biggest problem is the way we treat our late first round picks and 2nd rounders like trash. If you sell a pick for $3 million and then fill the roster space with a guy who costs $7 million instead of $500,000 you still lose $3.5 million in real dollars and $6.5 million in cap space.
The 2nd round pick has a chance to be productive on his deal. The guy you spend $7 million on right now is almost certainly terrible. Like Bellinelli. Or Hawes. Or Hibbert. Or Sessions.

Ah, gotcha. They have to tread carefully so as to not to be accused of salary cap circumvention. I'm sure they'll do all they can though.yosemiteben wrote:I was actually thinking the opposite, MJ showing Jordan Brand love in hopes of keeping Kemba in the fold.

Re: Hornets Cap Outlook
Maybe not the right thread for this... but here's Hollinger on the Hornets' utilization of a 2-way slot as a vehicle to convert Caleb Martin and McDaniels from Exhibit 10s to minimum contracts. Hadn't realized it was so uncommon. Also interesting that the Martins will both be restricted in 2022 while McDaniels will be UNRESTRICTED in 2023.

Re: Hornets Cap Outlook
Team picked up Monks and Bridges options - which was to be expected.
