Re: Around the NBA II
Impressed by the Miami Heat front office, they just got three rookies that look like they're gonna be players. Two of them undrafted, just like when they found McGruder or Tyler Johnson. They just keep finding players that go outside the draft and turning them into solid contributors.

25 points on 23 shots, with only one assist and two rebounds... not as good as it looked?

Re: Around the NBA II
I will always maintain the Clippers grossly overpaid for PG13
Gallo + SEGA + a coupla protected FRPs is already more than fair for a hurt PG13
Those extra 3 unprotected FRPs were just overkill, but yea yea i understand that Kawhi made it a stipulation before signing.
OKC got a helluva young foundational player to build around.

You can't look at that trade as giving up all that just for PG though. The team gave it all up for PG and Kawhi. More than worth it.Vae Victus wrote:I will always maintain the Clippers grossly overpaid for PG13

And Sam Presti had the audacity to complain about how unfair it was that Paul George demanded a trade.

How many chips, over/under, for it to be worth all the assets they gave up?

Like mentioned, the team didn’t look at it as trading for PG alone, they looked at it as the price to get Kawhi and PG, so for OKC it was an excessive return, but for the Clippers it was not an overpay due to the circumstances. In a regular situation, it would be an overpay, yes, if it wasn’t tied to the other factors.

Yea Presti lucked out that the Lakers were in the mix in attempting to sign Kawhi. Witout the Lakers providing pressure, the trade for PG13 woulda been more fair and not so one sided.
Again i agree, that the trade is still worthwhile, due to the linked nature of getting Kawhi too, but the RealGMer in me hates having to overpay in any deal!
The Lakers though... oof, if AD doesnt re-sign... they might as well get contracted.

presti's complaint was with paul george's comments. pg said it was mutual, wanting to part ways and it was not.

If it wasn't mutual then they shouldn't have traded him. Boo hoo.nickhx2 wrote:presti's complaint was with paul george's comments. pg said it was mutual, wanting to part ways and it was not.

i should clarify what i meant.
he only refuted what paul george said, as far as i know. i didn't hear anything at all about him complaining about anything.

Re: Around the NBA II
It seems clear from both George and Westbrook’s words and different reports that both players and Presti had been talking about breaking up the team and getting traded elsewhere since their season ended. Now I’m sure Presti would’ve loved to keep them, but it seemed like an inevitability that he would have to take on sooner rather than later, and without the Clippers appearing in the picture he wouldn’t have gotten half the value.
I’m sure George thought that being the case, and him having re-signed a year before when no one expected him to, he had built enough good faith to leave amicably and get some good press for both sides. But Presti had different ideas and threw him under the bus to get all the good press for himself, and I’m sure George didn’t like that one bit.
In the end, Presti owes a lot to George,if he didn’t re-sign, or if the Clippers situation hadn’t arised, instead of genius Presti who nailed yet another rebuild, the narrative would be about Presti’s constant failure to build a contender.
