This thread is high comedy. Every other post, the same 3-4 guys trying to build up some nobody they pimped, when they were a college prospect.

Re: Around the League - 2019-2020
I think Houston isn’t going to work this year. Westbrook had a triple double last night, and Harden took 29 shots, and they barely beat the Pelicans.
I know that Westbrook and Harden are friends, and both legitimate superstars, but of all of the superstars in the league they are probably about the worst fit together.
The two most ball dominant players in the league on the same team. Both of them have the handles, and passing skills to play the point, but they are both shoot first guards.
They are going to put up spectacular numbers individually, but I bet that they struggle to win 50 games this year, and have horrible defensive numbers.
Simply exchanging Paul for Westbrook was a net increase in basketball skill, but I don’t think it will improve the team. Sending out 4 first round picks as well is a long term disaster.

I think the league is at a point where jacking up random 3s is considered a valid offense. The Rockets and the Bucks are the poster children but every team that i have seen tends to do it. When it is combined with constant foul baiting it tends to make the games hard to watch.

Imagine thinking Luka Doncic and Trae Young would struggle due to lack of athleticism.
Meanwhile, Mr. Athletic (Dennis Smith Jr.) is getting booed out the gym by his second team's home crowd and is a journeyman in the making.
This is a lesson to the people who overrate athleticism in the modern era.

Isn't that better than athletic Fs with subpar skill level driving into the teeth of the defense and chucking up low percentage contested shots inside the arc?
I don't think the modern style of play is any worse aesthetically than older styles.

He is already a star player, and you know it. If/when he is able to shoot jump shots he will be a superstar.

16 ppg regular season player, 15 ppg playoff player.
It's disingenuous to call or consider him a star right now, in my opinion.
Right now, he's just a plus starter with an exceptional all-around game.

Aesthetically it is not very pleasing and lacks variety, when the majority of the half court shots are 3s . It is not very nuanced either because most of the times times there are no plays run, just teams passing the ball around and randomly chucking 3s.
If you look at Brook Lopez, a player that used to play in the post and be relatively good at it, he basically sets camp 3-4 ft beyond the three point line and launches a 3 as soon as he gets the ball. It allowed him to get some more money but i dont think many people like this brand of basketball.

Re: Around the League - 2019-2020
Speaking of Brook Lopez, one of the worst and ugliest games I ever watched was during the lockout year when the Bobcats were playing the Nets.
Lopez was spamming stiff, mechanical post moves on one end and Gerald Wallace was spamming low-IQ drives into the teeth of defenders on the other end.
It might have been the moment Steph Curry or Darryl Morey were like "ef this, I'm changing the league"

Also goes to show how important FT% is as an indicator of shooting ability. Here are some college FT shooting percentages:
65%
67%
72%
75%
Those are the percentages for Fultz, Ball, Smith Jr, and Fox. And Fox is currently the best shooter out of all of them, even though most people had him ranked as the 4th best shooter of the group at the time of the draft. College 3P% means very little.

An all star is by definition a star. Why **** on Ben?
He is clearly one of the best young players in the league, even if you would rank him behind Trae and Luka.

Because we want him to raise his game and improve.
I want Ben to raise his game this season and be a star. I dont want less of the kind of performance he had against the Pistons where he was a more athletic version of Kyle Anderson. He should be more aggressive and look to get his scoring number.
Andrew Wiggins was once regarded as one of the most promising young player in the league.

He’d go back looking like that if the game trends back to being less 3pt heavy and centers play goalie on defense.
He was just at the right place and at the right time. He’s perfect with the Bucks where he would pull opponents center out of the paint while Giannis pretty much plays anchor on defense.

No it's not. Plus starters make allstar games on a yearly basis. Look at how many allstar games Al Horford and Draymond Green have made lol.

We are 2-0 and half the posts on this board are trashing Ben and Joel. You guys are something else man. Most of you deserve the 2002-2011 teams back.

As currently constructed, I'd say there are 6-7 contenders ahead of Golden State this year.
2025-2026 Philadelphia 76ers:
Maxey/McCain/Lowry
Edgecombe/Grimes/Gordon
George/Oubre/Edwards
Barlow/Watford/Walker
Embiid/Drummond/Bona/Broome

Evaluate the team through a playoff lens.

6 or 7? As currently constructed, the Warriors won't make the playoffs.

So if every time anyone says anything about the Clippers I say "Well if they give up 130 points to the Suns they can't win anything" would that be helpful or productive?
The playoffs are 6 months from now, this is all still a step beyond preseason. Speaking of playoffs let's see Doncic or Young do anything there before we put them on Simmons' level.
