Bamba has his warts no doubt but it does take time to develop as a big in the NBA. I actually like his 3 ball shot form wise better than Vucevic. He just needs to develop some confidence. One thing that I have noticed is that his offense dictates his defense. If he is getting involved on offense then his energy does pick up on the other end. He really does need to work on that body of his and his stamina though if he wants to be effective in the league.

This game falls on the horrid play of both Vucevic and Terrence Ross who sadly look like they always have prior to their contract years. Vuc has played very soft and has shown no type of leadership whatsoever. Loved that Clifford benched him, he did not deserve to go back out there. Ross so far looks like the player I really could not stand when we first acquired him via trade, a guy with horrid shot selection and suspect defensive IQ. It actually seems like he may be pressing a bit to validate his contract. Would like for Ross to just settle down and be smarter with his shot selection.

Did you not watch this game?

Yes, i did

Isaac is a perfect Forward, moving him to Center is just short-sighted

Typical Realgm over reaction

Nobody's advocating him to start at center, but playing him at spurts as a center vs. centers he can defend against is absolutely a good idea.

I don't believe Isaac is ready to step into that role full-time, but I feel like we witnessed something important tonight.

100% agree. I do not think Isaac is built to play full-time minutes at the 5, now, or maybe ever. But I definitely think there isnt a game that goes by he shouldn't be getting consistent minutes there.

Other things I forgot to mention:

Issac was beastly on both ends. Type of performance that leaves you with a jaw drop. That defense wow, but 5 3s out of nowhere was crazy. He certainly has the potential to be an effective 3pt shooter but need that consistency.

We gotta figure out a way to get AG going thru cuts, action plays, lobs, etc. He is forcing too much, that's not his game.

Vuc had a horrible shooting night, not worried about it, he has a track record, he will get again going on offense.

Fultz, he should be the starter at some point but we shouldn't rush it now, it's just game 3 and he is still getting his sea legs under him. Still working on getting that rust out, don't rush him yet be patient. I appreciate Cliff getting him late game minutes for the 2nd game in a row it will pay off later in the season.

Are you sure you're not watching the Lakeland Magic? Scratch that are you sure you're not actually playing 2K and confusing it with real life?

Vuc was 1-13 from the floor and let Gasol own him on offense too. I had a better impact on the magic from my coach than Vuc did tonight.

I love JI and the impact he makes on defense, but jeez this guy frustrates me sometimes with how much he bobbles and fumbles the ball, trying to catch it in traffic. You can tell he still has the jitters.

There are transitioning trans kids that have more testosterone than a certain Magic player.
11/18/2017 - I have officially disowned Nikola Vucevic and branded him a loser.

- Skal Labissiere was my guy in 2016 pre-trade. Whoops, but I still believe.
- Malik Monk was my guy in 2017. Whoops(?)
- Mo Bamba was my guy in 2018. TBD.

Knightro wrote:He's not a hesitant shooter like he was in the preseason which is good, but Fultz isn't a good enough 3PT shooter right now to be doing anything but playing on the ball and initiating the offense in crunch time.

Otherwise he can't really be on the floor late in games. It's on the ball or nothing.

Exactly. And the rest of the guys on the floor need to learn how to play that way.

Well, in fairness, Fultz is a liability on the court during crunch time. We’ve seen this happen vs Atlanta as well, they just sag off him and dare him to shoot. Basically rendering the isolation plays as useless.

I'll take an open Futlz' midrange jumper all day vs the garbage offense we've been seeing.

Lol. They dont even let him get to the midrange. They just sag on him to shoot the 3.

The sooner we bench Vuc and start Ross the better.

4 yr(s) / $100,000,000

Also, still waiting on AG to “turn that corner”.

Two highest paid players were complete no shows.

Isaac had a good game, but this team still struggles offensively to no ones surprise. If any team has a good game against Orlando, and we sag defensively, you might as well turn the game off.

PrimeThyme wrote:I have to think that Weltman feels a lot differently. I think he is still viewed as a core piece of this team. You draft a guy at 6 to be that for you. But I 100% agree that he is not our biggest problem right now. We don't win or lose games because of him. It comes down to our highest-paid players underperforming.

I just think when we are discussing the longterm outlook of this team Bamba is still a very relevant discussion. I don't believe they are actively looking to trade him. On the other hand, WeHam got a first-row seat to watch Isaac at the 5 tonight and Vuc go 1-13 so maybe that changes.

Cornerstone is diff than core to me. Cornestone means we drafted him with the intention of being someone we could build around, which implies all-star. I think we HOPED his ceiling would be that high, but he's played well below that so far obviously. Not writing his career off or anything, I'm sure even if he turned out to be a longer Dedmon, people would be generally content (most, at least).

Core is something that is fluid too. Nobody wanted to speak of Fultz as a core piece (including myself) until we actually saw him playing again on the floor, and I think even just three games into this season, he's played himself into our core.

If it were me... and it's not... but this is what I would do.

PG: Fultz
SG: Fournier
SF: Gordon
PF: Isaac
C: Vucevic

Backup PG: Augustin
Backup SG: Ross
Backup SF: Iwundu
Backup PF: Aminu
Backup C: Isaac

I would shorten the rotation from 10 to 9 and remove Bamba and MCW from the mix.

He also has smaller hands for a guy his size, which doesn't help. Luckily they are pretty good when he's stealing the ball or going after hustle loose balls.

thank you, but that's on cliff....there are ways to do these things but i'm not sure cliff would switch it up at this point with the x's and o's....he's plain meat and potatoes....just got to hope we're hitting shots cause in his offense the only situation where we're consistently attacking the rim is in transition

These shots have to start falling at somepoint. I'm just not convinced this is how is going to be all season.

Seriously, if a winning player gets abused on a play, they take it personal and come back harder the next play... Vuc?... disappears... I wanna see some Birch.

Agreed totally.
Longest tenured Magic player.
New contract in his prime and vet, he better step up. Offseason is over. Is it too much to ask wanting him to be more assertive. I don't care if Gasol owns him, people are just tired of seeing him wilt and fold looking like a weakling out there.

Return to Orlando Magic
