Wow! Reading this thread I only think that Cam Reddish is gonna make a lot of people eat crow.
It's just a matter of when, but the talent is definitely there, sorry for those unable to see it... Somehow it's similar to what happened lat year with Trae.

Not sure what people keep seeing in this guy, he played like straight vomit at Duke
He barely even shot 40% in AAU https://www.d1circuit.com/roster_players/17820787
shot a pitiful 35% at Duke as a 3rd/4th option while the defense was having to account for Zion and Barrett
Reddish being handed a starting NBA role is hilarious to me

We can’t use 4 games to prove he’s going to never amount to anything, but we can use 4 games to say he sucks ass as much or more than he did in college.

Trae Young was very good in college. Big difference. I was skeptical about how Trae would do, but there was never a moment where I was calling him a bust bc he had at least shown he can excel at a level above high school. So with him, the wait and see attitude made perfect sense.
The "anti-Reddish" side has made is extremely clear that their reservations about him extend back to his piss poor excuse of a college season.
How are people not understanding this is not just about his early season struggles?

There's not a better coach out there to develop young talent than Coach Pierce. Watch 76ers players rave about how he helped develop their games. If Coach Pierce says he will be fine offensively then Hawks fans can rest easy. The man knows young talent and how to develop it.

I hope The Bulls don't have to wait a year for him to be productive. That means the trade was a big failure.
He talks a bit about his health in the article I posted in my previous post. Here's a quote:As far as his health, Porter said the early-season minutes restrictions are more about the organization being conservative. He maintained that he’s always had hip issues, “because the way my body is, tight hips, long and lanky. I deal with that on a daily basis. That’s nothing new.
“But for me it’s early, getting my legs up under me. My hip is fine.’’
I was talking about Reddish. I didn't know about opj being hurt, but I'd apply the same length of time for him as well. That tight hips quote is worrisome. That's not ideal for an athlete, long term.
He had some type of core surgery earlier in the summer. They've cleared him, but it's obvious he's not in optimal shape. I'd rather wait until he gets a proper offseason to build strength. The guy has some interesting tools and people need to give him some time.

I'm not even slightly surprised by this start. This isn't a Marvin Williams or Harrison Barnes situation where a stud prospect underwhelmed in college. There's underwhelming and then there is shooting 39% from two in college. From two. With little defensive attention paid to him. He shot 10% worse at the rim than Tre Jones did and on about 25% less volume. Bad decision making, a shaky motor, and he hasn't been able to shoot since high school. All huge red flags. I watched about 20 Duke games last year, and I don't get the hype at all.

While I don’t doubt that Pierce is a good coach for young players, I’m just wondering how Pierce saying that Reddish will be ‘fine’ offensively is some sort of ringing endorsement? Plus I wouldn’t expect any head coach to say something negative about The future a young player. When asked, one would hope that he’s going to say something positive instead of throwing him under the bus.

The narrative on Reddish reminds me of Frank Ntilikina's. A guy who was drafted in the lottery because of his physical measurables. And not because of anything he ever did on a basketball court.

I don't understand the hype with Reddish.
Since last year I've been calling him a Ben McLemore/Mario Hezonja level player..
There aren't many positives

If he's injured then he should sit. One reason why I bring him up is because he's expected to play better because he's shown what he can do (for 6 seasons). Right now he's playing worse than he ever has minus his rookie year (and even that's debatable).
Nobody expects Cam Reddish to light up the NBA in his first season.
Yeah I think he should be sitting .. especially because if he takes one good hit to that hip , his career could go the way of Isaiah Thomas
That announcement is probably coming soon. He has the player option for next season which will end up looking like a great move by his agent .
OPJ talks about it here (this was posted on the Bulls board today):
https://chicago.suntimes.com/bulls/2019/10/29/20939253/bulls-cavaliers-otto-porter
I don't buy most of it. He says that he's getting used to a new team yet he played 15 games with the Bulls last year and has been here all pre-season.
He also says that he has to "Keep being aggressive". I agree, but why wasn't he aggressive for the first 4 games?
It’s just lip service . This is why the organization and his teammates got fed up with Otto in Washington. He was the highest paid player on the payroll yet always shirked criticism , meanwhile Wall and Beal (who honestly seem much happier now) got demonized by the media because that was the easy narrative.
For example he came into media day last season saying he’s gonna go “Klay Thompson mode” and how he’s finally ready to start being more aggressive - aaand nothing changed.
https://www.nbcsports.com/washington/wizards/otto-porter-jr-wants-be-more-klay-thompson-offense-and-kawhi-leonard-defense
My feeling is that Otto enjoys the NBA lifestyle, but also knows his personality and body type/genetics won’t allow him to be an elite player worthy of his #3 draft status. Which is fine , everyone’s not cut out for that. But because of his salary being publicly known (which was caused by a fluke offer sheet from BKN and not really earned with his play) he has certain expectations placed on him by fans so it’s harder for him to coast under the radar when he tries.

That's disappointing to hear (and a concern going forward). He played great for the 15 games last year that he was with the Bulls. Why can't he do that again? Or more often? I guess you said it...that he doesn't have the drive to do it. Sigh. Hopefully he proves us wrong this year, but I have my doubts (and he's obviously not starting off in a good way).

I'm gonna go with Tony Snell. At least Reddish gives you the illusion of potential.

He looked like a guy you take a flyer on in the 2nd round after how he played at Duke. He's not anywhere close to being ready for the NBA offensively.

I don't get how people aren't allowed to call developing players busts and open themselves up to criticism, but if you call him a future all star it's somehow alternately totally fine. Note I don't think either scenario is impossible from this player.

This is exhibit A of the problem with our youth development system in America. No one is teaching these kids how to play basketball, there’s no focus on fundamentals anymore. It’s like they’re learning how to play from NBA 2k
