I wish I were more well versed in the physiological questions here. I never was a pitcher, but my understanding is that your arm can be basically dead for a day or two after a high pitch count. So, what I don't know is if he could physically do it even if he wanted to.

For 1 inning? I would think so - though everyone's different.

Strasburg was talking after the game to Harold Reynolds and Pedro Martinez. Reynolds asked Stras, “Any chance you pitch tomorrow?” Strasburg answers, “We’ll take that day by day.” And Martinez immediately shouts, “That means YES, that’s a YES!”

I've never actually seen it a starter pitch the day after a start, but I think I recall seeing starting pitchers warming up in the bullpen the day after a start in elimination games.

Wow clutch hitting again. I don't generally follow baseball but this has been an amazing run. 3 outs to go with a 4 run lead....

Four run lead in the ninth against top of the lineup. Do you stay with Corbin or go to Hudson? Maybe Stras? Looks like Hudson.

To go from 19-31 to World Series champ. It's unreal. I can't think of another local story in Washington or Baltimore, where a team won a championship in this way, not winning a home game in the finals. I guess Caps broke the curse. Nats take it to another level. Time for the Wiz in 2022!

The Wizards are going to win in the relatively near future, too. It's just Dan Snyder who sucks.

It was a great, great series. Truly amazing example of what baseball can be at its best & most exciting. The Astros are a tremendous team, btw, making the victory all the sweeter.
Breaking News: In a shocking development, Wizards owner Ted Leonsis has sold the NBA franchise to a consortium of participants in a discussion board devoted to the team on realgm.com. Details to follow....

It’s long, but I read all of it and I’m glad I did. So worth reading if you enjoy the human/family side of sports.
