he's rocking a -29 after 12 minutes. Likely in the ballpark of -100 or so per 100.

What a disastrous start.

he's garbage...one trick pony, and an absolutely terrible terrible terrible fit in a motion/movement scheme

this was a disastrous transaction by Myers

It was always about gaining an asset than being enamoured by the player. Myers will extract a small fortune out of someone as soon as D'Angelo becomes trade eligible. Warriors needed those assets after depleting them during the title run and that was the only way of getting them.

Russell is averaging 16/6 on 48% true shooting. He has never been close to league average true shooting in his career. Right now his offensive on/off is -24.5.

This is a much bigger risk than you’re making it out to be. Russell will have to majorly turn it around on a roster with 0 supporting talent to even get anything of value in a trade, even from a team as desperate as Minnesota, let alone a “small fortune”.

What GM is trading fro Russell and his max contract if they want to keep their job?

His offense is so damn horrible though. He's like Tony Allen x 2.

I never understand why an iso scorer on a good defensive team is getting so much credit. He is slower than 90% of the guards out there and that is not a good thing to play in this league

Yes, it's a tradeoff. Westbrook and Harden are two of the best offensive player ever (at least in the RS) but if that's your frontcourt it's going to be tough to have a good defense. I think they could potentially be average defensively come playoff time though

Doubt it. They had Melo/Chriss/Mcw at one point last season and didnt look this bad defensively.

Yes they did. Their defense was godawful to start last season. Houston has a 117.3 DRTG now and through 5 games last year they had a 116.9 DRTG. Damn near the same.

He's not just an iso scorer, he's one of the most gifted passers in the league. Mike Conley is 32 and struggling to adjust to his new team, can we have some patience for the 23 year old here?

we had to give up Iggy and a 2024 unprotected first to get DLo, ended up getting hard capped, and are now paying him 30 million the next four years

if he keeps playing like trash, we might have to attach an asset to get rid of him...

yes but he stops the ball and dribbles like 10 secs before making a decision. This is not a good habit from a 23 year old pg

Warriors should stand pat there’s no need in trading the only offense you have left for the next 2 months.

You can’t load management out here Kawhi welcome to the west !

Agreeing with EBalla here, yeah sure if Russell plays like this for half a season instead of 4 games his value will drop, as of now it's barely a blip on the radar.

He’s of course not going to play this bad all season.

But what do we expect from Russell? He is an inefficient scorer who right now is scoring inefficiently. The contract he received was predicated on him becoming a better player over the course of the deal. But if he has another year like last year ~20 PPG on -2 TS%, What team is going to pay a “small fortune” for him given you really aren’t expecting much improvement going forward?

Black holes reach temperatures of about -273 degrees celsius.

That and James Harden for the first three games I think qualifies.

it's not really a blip, he's had one 'good' year really, was a substitute all-star in a historically weak EC, look at what happened to his numbers in the POs last year, 36% from the field and 44% TS once he wasn't allowed to just spam PnR every possession

he's just not that good, really does nothing off-ball, doesn't understand how to do any of the little things like setting picks or screens or relocating, is a marginal athlete, cannot defend either on-ball or team defense, essentially a one trick pony on offense and not a very efficient one at that, and is primarily a half-court guy than a transition or full court guy...really all things that just do not fit on this team at all.

And again he's 23 years old playing in a brand new system with new players for the first time. His speed in making reads is understandably slow for that reason.

It's 4 games I wouldn't call +7 and +11 a major gap at this point. That's like 10 total points and one good defensive game can flip those numbers pretty quickly.

Is there anyplace one can find total travelling violations called in a given season?

I ask because it sure seems like the refs are cracking down on travelling so far this year, especially on the perimeter. The little slight shuffle when taking off with the ball, or the extra gather step when first catching a pass on the perimeter [that they've allowed players to do without penalty for years now] are suddenly being called.

Watched the Jazz/Clippers game last night, there were about a half-dozen travels called........just went thru the play-by-play on bbref: 5 travelling violations, and one "discontinued dribble"???? [I feel like that last one may have been signaled as a travel in the game]

And was watching part of last night's Sixer/TWolves game this morning during my run: two travelling violations in the first quarter alone.

I remember thinking they were calling it a lot in a game I was watching a couple nights ago, too.

So the suns are just like a star.

Starting out super out. Slowly burn until they collapse into absolute zero.

I can see the event on the horizon :D
