This fanbase has always given him the benefit of doubt in that his antics were in good fun, but I always thought Embiid was a mean-spirited jerk.

I dont think hes mean spirited, immature yes. I really believe that embiid is more sensitive than what he tries to portray and the heckling and clowning he does is a defense mechanism. He needs to pull it back some with being disrespectful when its not warranted.

I think it was those dunker dudes that use trampolines and Embiid feigned like he was going to cut in front of them while they were going fullspeed. Just a flat out dick move. I remember being real put off by Embiid's behavior.

I think it was those dunker dudes that use trampolines and Embiid feigned like he was going to cut in front of them while they were going fullspeed. Just a flat out dick move. I remember being real put off by Embiid's behavior.

He's being a dick. That doesn't make him a bad person. Just impulsive an immature. Two completely different things. People can be **** and still good people.

He is way too self-deprecating at times to be a jerk imo.

He is honest and sometimes too honest when he tries to prove that he doesnt care what others think.

I watched the altercation again and it looks like Towns hooked Embiid's arm for a couple of seconds on purpose and kept it hooked even after the first shove, so he was looking for a fight.

Embiid probably felt he was in the right and then went off after Towns post.

Seeing him be antagonistic towards courtside help is a whole another thing. A possible reflection of his actual character. That's the type of stuff that known jerk hollywood actors do to pa's.

Like I said it was a dick move. A lot of people are like that. He hasn't done that at any other time during warmups. I'm sure he didn't mean to hurt anyone. Just want thinking.

Oh ok, yeah I don't remember that. Well for what it's worth on opening night this year during warmups a ball got stuck above the basket between the backboard and the shot clock (I think off a Simmons' jump shot, of all things) and I watched Embiid help a staff person try to get it down for like 5-10 minutes until Embiid finally grabbed a broom or mop or something like that and poked it out. Can't judge these guys on their best or worst days.

Embiid has always been immature even when he was in Kansas. Remember how he would go on tantrums whenever we tried to manage his load for his own good?

Its a double edged sword, at one end it’s going to hurt him (people may physically try to injure him or crying) and the other end this immaturity can be the drive that pushes him to be a champion.

When you are paid a lot, it takes away the value of winning. This immaturity can be used as “pride” that drives you in being the best player that you can be.

The key is knowing how to control it for the team and JoJo.

so if Joel was an actual bad person we'd have heard about it. He is a goofball w/o an off switch and a chip on his shoulder (something people constantly forget is how actually incredible it is that dude is playing at all; imagine all of the **** he got from everyone...probably even himself when he couldn't suit up. That probably fuels him more than anything and thus for better or for worse he approaches everything as I gotta enjoy this while I can and prove all da haters wrong while doing so. It often gets him in trouble (its a big reason why he forces **** on offense at times for example).

the twitter beef stuff was a step too far for sure but everything else is all apart of the no off switch part and thats probably something we have to live with.

I wish Embiid would have shown some remorse by now. Not for offending KAT, but for his teammates and not being available these next 2 games. Every game matters this season. We should be aiming for home court in the Finals if we actually want to win while the league is wide open.

I have to believe that the antics surrounding it played a big part of the suspension becuase no punches were thrown and they both were just holding on to eachother.
